Very mixed SLI performance.

Hey. I am noticing some inconsistencies with my signature computer. (I refuse to say rig)
I have recently added a second 660ti. Now in Metro 2033 I am seeing about a 90% increase in FPS. The scaling is very very good. Both cards are being used at 90-100% and the FPS only drops bellow 60 if there are a lot of people shooting and running about.

However with Borderlands 2 I actually get a better frame rate if I use a single card. Is this an issue with the game?
Or is Metro heavily GPU dependent and Borderlands needs a better CPU?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I remember reading something about problems with SLI and Borderlands 2, and they recommended to use a single card for physx and the other for the rest.

But better wait to see if answer someone who knows better

Drivers

Metro has been around longer, more mature drivers.

Can't say that with a 100% certainty since I haven't played BL2 but just my guess.

Thanks guys. I think that the SLI profile for Borderlands 2 selects one card for Physx anyway. But I will try and set it manually and see if there is an improvement. Thanks for the replies.

As I just shared on another thread moments ago,

BL2 is highly CPU-dependent in certain areas of the game.

Note that the above is 2 separate links, both worth checking out (though the first link has a reference to the 2nd link already) thumb.gif

As an aside, SLI profile's don't address PhysX in any way. They're two independent things.

Thanks for the links. That explains that then! Even with a CPU running at 4.8 it struggles for much of the game. What a shame.
Does this explain why SLI performance is worse than a single card?
