[IGN] Report: Two Versions of the Next Xbox - Page 4

if they manage to get games running 1080p native @60fps, with backwards compatibility, it will definitely be worth the upgrade to an xbox 720. if its not backwards compatible with xbox 360 titles then I can see microsoft losing quite a bit of customers. technically they don't have to emulate the 360, the games run on direct x, they would just have to release patches for AAA titles that essentially "port" the game over, but require the original disk to play.

Meh, just get rid of the BS gold fee and I'm down. Why are we paying for peer-to-peer gaming and to see ads? Forza is the only thing keeping me paying for that scam. I make sure to never buy DLC or any other content on there just because of that.

honestly I think the fee for XBL Gold Is justified. I do think MS should charge a bit less. $30 a year would be optimal. I'm sure it costs Microsoft a fortune to keep servers up and running, not only that its much more secure than PSN. I'm not a "fanboy" as I own both consoles. free is always good, but whats the point of a free service if your identity and credit card info get stolen?

I couldn't have said it better myself. A version of Xbox that doesn't play every title designed for "xbox" to save a few bucks? Even if the lower end system was $99 it hardly seems worth it if a new version of Halo or COD:MW comes out and I cant play it.

means NOTHING in the end the ps3/360 owner will just go for the model thats like 399 max and thats MAX price for ps4 as well, history has shown over and over again for a console like 399 is MAX thumb.gif

yes and call sony and ask them how hard their sales sucked till the console hit 399 biggrin.gif ive seen a article talking to both sony and MS seperate articles, but both basicly said lesson learned cant launch a console above a certain price point no matter what it does biggrin.gif

they were selling for well over $1000 on ebay at launch. I remember they were bought out and people were rushing to get them for the holidays. imagine spending $1000 on a console, then having YLOD/RROD on you. I think for a while the warranty didn't even cover those problems.

Personally, as long as MS charges for Live Gold, I'm not interested in their services except XBLA :/

It's $4 per month for a service that most consider to be better than the competition. Running that service costs money, so why do you have the expectation that you should get it for free?

Thing is, way back when, before the ads and the plethora of other money making avenues were tacked on to flood the UI, I would have agreed with you 100%

Now, in 2012, MS have the gall to strap down something as simple as an Internet Browser, and even LEADERBOARDS (This change came around some time back. Before then silver sub could still post onto Leaderboards) to a $60 service... And they still have the nerve to crap up every, single, page, with, an ad.

Again, let me reiterate that if we had this coversation 1-2 yrs ago, I would have agreed with you.

I don't think XLives price has been justified since the Blades Dash. It's all about advertising now and has been since they launched the NXE. They have their hands in more than one cookie jar IMHO
