Need to upgrad from my GTS 250 - Page 2

Out of all the options, a 7870 would be the best one to pick. you will definitely see an upgrade.

While i do agree that it's okay to get old tech when on a budget, such an old tech as a 2xx series card isn't even that good. You would be doing better getting a used GTX 460 for under $100, or a GTX 470 for under $150.

I disagree there, I already have a gts 250 and I can run battlefield 3, skyrim, assassin's creed series, etc...

For $50, another gts 250 to run SLI will be enough of a performance boost to hold me over. Besides, I was able to upgrade my card, my ram, and my keyboard for $120. And because I went with the cheap option for now it wont take me as long to be able to afford go with an even better card.

I would rather *suffer* with good performance now so that in a little while I can just skip past all these mid-level cards and jump to great performance with a gtx 670 or 680.

Besides if I were to give in and go for an ATI I could still want to wait until I can get something like a 7950.

(although I will admit that the 7870 is a pretty impressive card for the price. Possibly even better than the 660 ti.... And that is coming from a loyal nvidia fan)

Those 250s in SLI will be fine for your needs for now. For $50 thumb.gif

Need to upgrade from my GTS 250

Try getting a GTX460 2Win, or a 7850 on a sale. I recently got a 7850 at 150. If you're willing to go around 30 dollars over, You can get cards like the 660 and some 7870s.
Just lay off the coffee for a few weeks.

For what its worth I scored two GTS250 "SYSTEM PULL" from 3B Tech with a coupon, a few days ago. Leadtek Winfast GTS250 512 MB DDR3, whoever that is.
Just like to present the information, such as I find it. I learn a lot trying to answer questions. From reviews and reports the 192 bit bus should not be an issue, but you are quite right, it does seem a step down by Nvidia. Ah well I build 'em to see what happens.
