Installing new graphics card and overclocking it...

Thread Starter
Hello,

I currently have a 4670 installed and I'm receiving my 7950 tomorrow. Should I just install the drivers on the cd and then update it through AMDs auto detect program or should I uninstall all previous GPU drivers/software then install the 7950?

Basically just asking what's the best way to go about this and what programs would I need to uninstall or is the uninstall tool from windows enough.

Also is there a guide to overclock a 7950 for newbies? I've installed MSI Afterburner so do I just adjust the clocks to what everyone is usually using? Any links would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers smile.gif

Uninstall the old, then install the new drivers. Uninstall using the win uninstall programs.

With Afterburner, study what people are generally getting and use the average core and memory clocks. If stable, keep upping the core clock until unstable, then up the memory clock until unstable. Use FurMark , Unigine or games to test for stability while keeping an eye on temps.

1) Uninstall the old drivers and then download the newest drivers from AMDs website.

2) Turn off computer and install new video card

3) Bootup, wait for windows to find new hardware and then install the drivers you just downloaded.
