Upgrade from 580 to 670?

Thread Starter
I see lots of people making threads asking which to get. But my question is if its worth the upgrade? My friend wants to buy my 580 and I am wondering if I should go to a 670. (680 is just too much right now)

rougly about 20% performance increase. a friend of yours is buying your 580 anyway so why not? 2GB vram is nice to have as well.

although I'd recommend getting a 7970 instead with the same price(from where I'm from they're cheaper than a gtx 670). will be a decent jump from your 580 and doubled the vram too

Hmm so the 670 is definitely an upgrade. So I guess its 670 or 7970 now.

I've went thru GTX 580 -» HD 7970 -» GTX 670 recently and it was well worth it. The 670 is much, much quieter than the 580. I'm also getting 13-16 more frames in heaven, IIRC. thumb.gif

EDIT : Many people are going to recommend you a 7970 instead of a 670. TBH just go for whatever is the cheapest, or even brand preference. The difference in performance is really small right now.

Agreed with you mate thumb.gif
But if TS wanna upgrade his monitor into 2500 resolution then HD7970 is must have biggrin.gif since it has big 3G for VRAM

I went from 3x GTX 580 to 3x GTX 670 and frankly it's not worth it. I should have keept my GTX 580 for at least a year more, but I could sell them for a decent price and the reference GTX 670 were on sale back in September so I decided to "upgrade" - also because I had them since 2010 so I wanted "new" - i kinda regret it now.
I'd wait for the GTX 700 series - if it should be nVidia.

True that. The 7970 has more memory bandwidth, which is usefull when you are running crazy resolutions.
