...not to mention how long you would have to wait for RMA on a massive scale.

The decision has been made - all Geforce 8800 GTX and GTS remain at the default clock, but coolbit.reg still works. So the end user can have a bit of a fiddle if he or she really wants to.

Some Nvidia partners such as XFX, EVGA, BFG, Gainward get value from overclocking but Nvidia has said a big no to them, over and over again.

Sooner or later someone will do a faster clocked version but not at this time. Even the water-cooled card built by BFG is clocked at the stock speed but you can overclock it at home. That is the whole point of water-cooled card isn’t it?
They say that the G80 is near it limit and trying to oc'ed is like having a fryed G80 in your motherboard.

Companies like XFX, BFG, eVGA can't overclock the cards but you can yourself.. There won't be eVGA KO edition the XFX XXX editions anymore.

OMG OMG, what am I going to do? I cant buy an already overclocked card!?! I might just have to open up ntune and do it myself! But gosh, moving a slider with my mouse, that could be terribly complicated!?

And as for the 90nm argument... has AMD released its first 65nm chip to the public yet? No, it hasnt. No offense to you, but your making a big deal from nothing.

Hey tubnotub1 i hope your G80 can last up to one year...As for AMD that is totally a different story, let's try to be on topic here.

Im sure both of my G80's will last over a year, and if not, its ok, because they are both covered by eVGA's lifetime warranty! Really, this isnt a big deal, my 8800 GTX runs just fine at 630 on the core, and 1000 on the memory (not a bad overclock for a core that is supposed to be maxed out). Just chill, no reason to out a card, or a company, just because they want to guarantee that each and every user gets a working / problem free card. I would like to point out that ATI has also been doing this for a long time from what I understand.

I believe there are some companie (Sapphire and PowerColor, dunno) that pre-overclock ATI cards. Not sure though.
