Yeah. With the build I posted you could easily get the CPU to 2.6ghz, which would beat a 3.8ghz(at least) P4.

No, the 3500+ runs pretty cool. And the CPU comes with a heatsink, if thats what you were asking.

Nah, I know. I meant is that one good enough. Also, will I need to screw around with anything but the clock speed?

looks like a sweet build... and just so you know, with the Athlon 64s, you multiply the speed by 1.5 (i think) and that gives you how fast it would be if it was a P4... speed comparing thing.

so that 2.2 ghz 3500 is equal or better then a 3.3ghz P4... and you'll have to overclock it to atleast 2.6.

Good Luck

AMD is a great platform and in this case, the 3500 will eat the P4 for lunch, at least where gaming is concerned. In addition, the AMD processor runs quite cool.

Thanks, It will be one month before I get the money, then a few days to get the parts, THEN a few hours to build. If I could cut the budget to $300, then I could have the money in two weeks. Maybe If I went with an AMD 3200 and a cheaper mobo.
