Hmm I had read it needs 16 physical cores as a 12 cores with the hack was still too slow. God, one of these in TC with bigadv would just punish!

Hey [T]yphoon! I'm putting together a 3930k system, H80i cooling, 16GB (4x4) of 1866Mhz Gskill Ripjaws RAM, all on a Rampage IV Extreme MB, Thermaltake 850w modular PSU. OS will be on a OCZ 115GB ssd, storage on a Caviar Black 2TB drive. Hoping to get 4.6Ghz initially for CPU folding ONLY (have a PNY GTX650 I'm putting in for video but NOT for folding), will be folding 24x7 in the TC.

I am only going to be folding on this system (use my ol'980X for Windows stuffs), so I am thinking I will just folding Native Linux on this system. Should I use Ubuntu 10.10 to use TheKraken? Previously I was folding on 12.04LTS for a while.

I won't need a VM, but I'd need the Corehack to spoof 16 threads too, right? Any issues you can think of? Want to try to get this all up and folding this weekend. Thanks! thumb.gif

So I am getting a TPF of 57:11... What?

My 3930k is oc'ed to 4.7ghz and my ram is 1833mhz 9-10-10-21.

I feel like something is not right sadsmiley.gif

That TPF seems way too high, which WU was that on?

I'm not folding A5 WUs (bigadv), but I do have my 3930k folding in a VirtualBox VM right now folding just regular A4 SMP WUs.  It is OC'd to 4.7ghz, and similar RAM speed, if you want to try regular SMP without the 'corefix / hack' then I can compare some TPF times with you.

In the System settings of your VirtualBox make sure you change the Execution Cap to 95. I didn't do that at first and it caused very low performance.

It's typically on 100 by default, so unless he changed that I wouldn't think that's the issue, but always something to check out.
