Hey Olper! Great results you have there!

May I ask what VR/resistor you are using for VFB?

I think IMON signals output current information as an analog signal. .datasheet: "IMON: 0 mV to 900 mV analog signal proportional to the output load current. VSN referenced". I think NCP5392 does not use this information at all, but it's there for other circuits to read. Now that I fiddled with ILIM, it means that the NCP5392's OCP limit is higher. Still it sends correct output current information forward. Maybe the GPU reads this signal and throttles at a limit. I'm gonna put a pulldown on this...

Tin confirmed in his GTX680 thread that VID is only way to fool this IC for OCP limit... other mod to correct/tamper with limit was not successful.

Hi guys. Been having some misfortune with my card here. It all started from the pad I accidentally ripped off. Now the wire that i soldered in it's place chipped a resistor. I had checked the value of the resistor and I took a replacement from an old gt6600... Something else is wrong though and the card only puts out 0.07V when I start it up =(

I hope I can figure this out.. It could help if someone (Rayce185?) could take accurate photos around the VFB.... =)

I have a 500k 25-turn VR, but a 200k is good! You get 1.3V around 40k...

Datasheet page 23 shows the OCP circuit. This comparator does take the sum of the 4 phases and should be fooled by setting a new Ilim.
If there is an external OCP circuit outside the NCP5392, then I dunno... If nvidia shared the schematics biggrin.gif

Maybe if I can't fix the VRM circuit, I should buy a EVGA Epower or equivalent? biggrin.gif

Sure thing! What area in particular do you need a picture from?

Remember that this is a 660ti... It should be the sama design around the chip though...

this area in red box. I appreciate any effort. If you have the time and equipment, then thank you very much =)
I saw something from this pic already that may help me! But as I've learned again lately, the hard way, I must not touch these things when I'm tired.. We'll see about this tomorrow.

The design is very near the same. One thing i notice though, is that this board in picture has solder mask over the test-pads. It makes things a bit harder for you. You have to scrape off the mask covering the testpad or solder a wire directly to a component. There are a couple of places where I would solder.. Have you found a good spot yet?

How about this?

Pretty much the best the semi-SLR will do in those lighting conditions redface.gif

Thanks!

It's not perfect, but it helps, so thanks. I see some tracks in this that I don't see in the other pic =)

Clepto, are you sure Tin meant OCP and not OVP? This would support what hipro5 said here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?236905-Vmod-for-NCP-5395-Graphics-%28Giga-GTX-260-SOC-55nm%29
"Some of them will shut down at 1.270V and some at 1.31V max...
Also there is NO WAY to avoid this OVP due to the design of this chip.... "

I do disagree with this as well biggrin.gif
The OVP will be fooled if VSP is not tied to GPUv directly, but with a voltage divider circuit..

I didn't get the gpu to work yet frown.gif
I get 0.8V at output.. I have taken off all mods except the shunt resistor mod. I Think I need an oscilloscope and tons of time to find out whats wrong... Or perhaps I have broken the damn piece beyond repair biggrin.gif

I'll keep debugging as I find the time.

good find! biggrin.gif

So he did separate IMON and RT.. but says still did not prevent OVP.. VID should though.. weird. tiredsmiley.gif

I understood IMON is a feedback for external circuits.. For instance for the GPU. If the GPU senses too much current from IMON, it could throttle down clocks..? Blew my mind..

Hope I get this damned piece to work soon..

At least you didn't short your card... Good luck! thumb.gif
