[Build Log] "Revenge of the Switch"

This build is a reward to myself for completing my full elevator mechanic's license. I decided to go with a nice gaming rig that'll last me a couple of years. (my wife got gold and sapphires for her gift)

This is what it consists of:

Case: NZXT Switch 810 my wife picked the case... she did good!

Motherboard: MSI Mpower Z77

CPU: Intel i7 3770K clocked at 4.8ghz

RAM: 32 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600

Power Supply: OCz Z series 1000w modular

SSD: 2X Intel 330 series 240 GB on 6GB/s bus

Hard Drives: 2x Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB hybrid

Video Cards: 2x MSI R7970 3GB at 1104mhz core, 1375mhz memory

Optical: LG Super Multi Blue Blu-ray RW drive.

Cooling:
In addition to the 4 stock NZXT fans

CPU: XSPC Raystorm waterblock

Top radiator: XSPC EX360

Bottom radiator: XSPC EX240

Reservoir: XSPC 5.25 dual bay reservoir

Pump: XSPC D5 vario pump

XSPC 7/16"X5/8" white hose with XSPC black chrome compression fittings

Radiator Fans: Enermax tC Silence red lightning LED fans

GPUs: Arctic Accelero 7970 gpu coolers

Lights: 2 2m strings of NZXT sleeved LED's, one white, one red.

This is the state the build is currently in: Parts are assembled, wiring is done, cooling loop is established, and tested, passed a 48 hour leak test with the pump at 13.8v so maximum pressure was achieved. I've had the rig running and benchmarked with 3dmark11, scores are on page 3. Sitting ready to play, once punkbuster is reinstalled. just waiting for my exam date so I can play.

Computer assemble!!!.... grr it workrd for the avengers...

Case came in today, started looking at how everything is going to fit.. so far mostly impressed.

One down note... USB 3.0 port bent straight out of the box, somewhat annoying.

Looking good! Are you going to set up a RAID with the 2 drives? Also, how high are you going to try and OC your CPU? Nice stuff!

original plan was to raid 0 the hybrid drives. Unfortunately they don't raid well from my research, so they may be relegated to my nettop and network storage rig with an ssd and a 2 tb on this rig. Hoping for 5 ghz but realisticly 4.8 for daily use

This is how the "revenge of the switch theme will start playing out:

The black front plate will be replaced with a flat plate, with a much smaller window, in the neighborhood of 1/8" wide. It will be white, with the vinyl decal over it.

Should have the plate cut and painted tomorrow.

Today was productive, camera is dead, so sorry for bad cell pics.

Got the reservoir cover cut and painted, but was impatient, and the paint didn't dry fully before I put some finger prints on it.

I'll have to repaint it sometime soon.

Got a lot of the parts mounted inside, still waiting on fans, but hopefully they'll be in tomorrow with my SSD's

Tomorrow is another day, and I hope another productive one!!
