9500gt - even worth folding on? - Page 2

When folding on a laptop, make sure you have adequate cooling, they are not designed to run full load for any extended period of time.

I just had a 9500gt given to me from my work. It works fine but is it even viable to fold on?
no imo. id guess you could prolly squeeze in 1k PPD with that

I can't even get it to download a WU. I keep getting a work server empty error. Are these things even supported by FAH anymore?

They aren't. You have to use cards that use CUDA to get any WUs.
Edit: Scratch that. I'm special and didn't realize they have CUDA support. Not sure why you're not picking up a WU then

I had a 9600GT (Low wattage edition) that was around I would assume the same power. Put out 3249 ppd exactly. Every work unit was the same.

I'll add the slot back. Maybe it'll eventually get a WU.

24 hours and no WU. Looks like it's going to get put in a box and be my emergency backup in case my 460 gtx tanks.

Edit: I tried to get this GPU to work as the main card to run my monitor so my 460 gtx could fold away. Does it have to be in the top slot to work corectly? I had the 460 in the second slot but moved it to the top slot and put the 9500 gt in the second slot. The 460 gtx still works like a champ but the 9500 gt acts as if it doesn't even recognize my monitor. Could it be that I'm using a HDMI cable with a DVI adapter?
