I put 30. Dips below that are annoying but even constant 30s isn't bad. Some games (IV) run like crap regardless - IV runs about the same at 20 fps as it does at 50 fps for me.

It depends on how smooth the gameplay remains. GW2 can drop to 30 and feels smooth.

I am fine between 45-60FPS, but it's better at a 60FPS stable. I've tried 120 FPS; it is better, but TN panel monitors suck.

More is better! I make adjustments if I'm dipping below 60. I want 60+ constantly. If is see 120+ ...great. thumb.gif

back in the day i used to play games at around 20fps.. i didnt complain much
upgraded my GPU to 5770 (bottlenecked by my old CPU) and i started to feel comfy with 45~

THESE DAYS..... i feel as if i have become so sensitive to FPS dips below 60 that the other day i was looking at my GF's laptop screensaver, thinking it looked kinda.. laggy. Fraps happened to be registering the frame rate of it, and when i noticed, i was shocked that it was reading 52!
So i put 60hz is my minimum... i go nuts when im running below it in crysis 2.

I eventualy plan to upgrade to a 120hz monitor and the corrosponding hardware to handle it.

i do max FPS on everything i have a 60hz monitor i never use vsync or cap my FPS
post #17 of 28
anything over 40 i can't tell the difference..

once it goes near 30 or under it starts getting somewhat choppy (for fps games at least)..

for rts games i would be fine with 20fps

slow paced games 25 is OK

I usually shoot for 50+ in my games. Like some others pointed out lower framerates don't always seem to awful if they are consistent. I don't like the frame rates to change a lot. I'd rather cap them at a steady 30 than go back and forth between 60 and 30, however anything below 30 really becomes an issue no matter how steady.

One thing I have noticed that is a lot more important than frame rate is how stable the frame rate is. When I run the Unigine heaven benchmark, it looks like it's going 20FPS at 60 FPS, as it has this weird stuttering effect going on.
I don't watch my fps, if the game looks good and is running smooth then I am fine with it.
even when the game looks good I still have good performance so my setup must be close
to being the correct settings. also some games don't always have good fps but still perform
good and look good, so I think it also has to do with the games. my systems average is 60+
but I have seen 45fps once in awhile but i think it was that part of the game cause it was still
smooth. now I have also seen my fps at 200+ but that depends on the game also.
