Apparently, it can be done.

If I hadn't just dismantled my stock cooler to make a backplate cooler, I would do it myself. I got 4.5GHz with stock voltages on my 1.325v VID chip. I'm pretty sure that the stock cooler could've handled that.

It can be done, but the temps will be too high to maintain 24/7 stability since these chips run hot anyway, that and the fact that the stock cooler is pretty crappy :/

Core frequency doesn't necessarily indicate heat generated. While it does factor in, if I could get 4.5GHz with stock voltages, I'm pretty sure the rinky-dink little cooler could handle that as it is lower than most 8350s VIDs that I've seen.

Of course it can be done.

..Until you run Prime95.

I would've said Linpack, but alright. Now I have to do it to prove a point. :/

If you read the link, you'll see that they DID run Prime95. For an entire hour as a matter of fact. Anybody would consider that to be thermally stable. thumb.gif

I skimmed the link. I did not see any mention of temps? I'm sure they'd be quite higher than what you would want 24/7? Correct me if I'm wrong in not seeing where the temps are.

It just says it was stable for an hour.. it doesn't say what temp the CPU ran at.. I mean it can still be stable and run at 80C the CPU doesn't shut off until like 90 something if IIRC. tongue.gif
