Anyone can look at the specks of the processors and see what each have to offer. I have mine clocked to 4.6GHz (on air) by the way.

I have mine at 5.2ghz on an H100. wink.gif

Day to day use 4 fastest cores will win the day.

In a hard core encoder / professional world More cores / threads will win.

You can Ask Altar he agrees with this and he has the fastest SB-E Cpu on OCN.

I use all of my 6 cores/12 thread nearly fully loaded all the time as part of my day to day use. I don't really even have the time to stop what I'm doing and run a benchmark on it. (I have a rather ambitious crunching goal to reach that will take my CPU about 179 more days.)

It depends what your definition of "better" is.

But like I said, 4 cores is more than enough for most of today's games.

Honestly, both CPU's are about the same in performance, but the 3930k has a lot left in it. The next gen of games will use 6 cores, also That CPU Will let you quad sli REALLY well. and to the point of "Both are the same in video rendering now" That's true, But software always grows to use more resources. who's to say Sony Vegas 13 wont use 12 threads. And that CPU Has the ability to video render while gaming, Its that good.

Um No.. Afew token do now... BF3 Planet Side 2.
There are Alot that just use 2.. Most are just now using really 4.. you got quite afew years before 6 is used at a regular basis.

And by that time Intel will have made a 6 Core Mainstream Desktop Cpu to cope with that. Since it is not planned in the near future " Haswell " i do not see it coming anytime soon...

Maybe in Skylake / Skymount Era 2015../ 2016...

BF3 uses 6-8 when CFX or SLI Crysis 3 will, Most games I'm looking forward to playing will use more then 4.

Also those who say "Dual cores are fine for gaming builds" are insane.

BTW I like your system a lot. I love IB I just don't think its the be all end all of system builds. I'd just rather buy storage or ram later instead of swaping out a mobo and CPU, Especially if its under water.

I agree that the newer high end games are likely going to be moving to take advantage of the multiple core/thread offerings out there. I'm not going to try and predict the extent of it, but if the CPUs are there, they will come. It's only natural. wink.gif

Crysis 3 uses 4 i played the Alpha .. Bf3 is a token game...
I have 8 Threads however and 2 Monitors where i monitor everything as i play it..
600 Games i have.. ive found 3 that use more then 4.. and the only one for any length of time is BF3 the others are spotty at best.
Games will 99% use 4 cores for years to come.

I just started playing 3 new games Transformers Fall of cybertron Beautiful game.. Uses 2 cores..

A duel core Intel Cpu is pretty much a Fake quad core.. but it works.. cause almost all gaming benches have it beating the 8350.

In my usage an i3 simply wouldn't cut it. on the other hand I had a FX 6100 that was great. I could stream most games besides BF3 and I had an OC sitting at 4.3 GHZ NO ONE with an i3 can get there. thats something people forget about.

Dude your butt-hurt arguments are getting old. YOU HAVE NO IDEA that 99% games will only use 4 threads for years to come, you are just pulling that out of thin air. OP is not buying a PC for today only, he wants a rig that is going to last him as long as possible. Yes most games use only 2 cores right now because of current consoles, BUT next-gen consoles are just around the corner. Xbox 720 is rumored to get a 16-core CPU!!!! If that is true and implemented then OP is going to want as many cores as he can get for the best performance of his high-end machine.

Seems you are the one butt hurt...

16 score Cpu heh... guess the PS3 is going to get a 32 core one then...

And if games all of a sudden use 16 scores.. You mean there gonna go from 4 core games to 16 core games in 1 year? And everybody with less then 16 cores is going to bottleneck...?
They do not even use the full potential of 4 yet...

The only people who say games are going to Use more then 4 cores regular in the Near future.. are 1 Amd fan boys 2 socket 2011 owners.

So no im not butt hurt im just in touch with reality and do not have to justify my purchase by spreading false rumors of games using more then 4 cores to make myself feel better cause i did not buy a cpu with more cores then i will ever use..
