I am also planning a scratch built case!!!
I am mosdef subbed.

Question was it easy to situate the motherboard area?
Also, how are you going to situate the 5.25 bays and HDD mounts?

Good luck and have fun, looks like its gonna be epic.

P, PR, PRO, PROGRESS! yes thats what i was after!

i hasve finished of cutting the second part of the cutting, also i have made a cover for along the bottom of the motherboard behind the power supply, this will have the hdd connected to it, also most of it has had its first coat of black!

pictures

this shows the rear panel that will be fixed along the rear of the case below the motherboard tray aswell as the 3 parts that go together for the hdd housing.
IMG_9300.jpg

these two show the first coat of black, this is still drying in the pictures (not all is complete)

IMG_9298.jpg

also i have a step by step for holding the power supply in place, i dont think this is a good idea if the power supply is to be above the motherboard.

first i cut small pieces of mdf out (around an inch wide) and screwed them down around the base of the PSU after marking out the outlines

IMG_9291.jpg

see the powersupply does not fit, this is because the part above it is removable
IMG_9292.jpg
IMG_9293.jpg

i then sat the power supply in place and screwed the removable part to the case whilst it was sitting on the power supply so the power supply cannot move
IMG_9294.jpg

and there we have it, the power supply is firmly held down and is removable by just two screws

also here is a shot of the panel that goes along the bottom of the case, this is now black (just to show you where it goes)
IMG_9296.jpg

and the last one, the HDD enclosure, this is big enough for to HDDs, i will use the same method i used to hold the power supply in place with the HDD's, the wires go behind the panel so everything is neat. the picture just shows the pieces placed. they will be set accurately that was just for the general idea.

thank you for taking the time to read though and i hope to see you again!
