[Build Log] "Zed" First ground up build.

Thread Starter
I've been letting my computer slack for the last few years so I could get through college, and now that I have the time and money to invest in a computer build I figured starting a build log on the forums would make sense. Here's what I have ordered, with pictures being posted as I get the rest of the parts in the mail:
Cooler Master HAF X: 179.72
Intel i7-3770K: 326.78
Intel DZ77BH-55K: 169.35
Samsung 128GB 830 Series SSD: 101.13
Corsair XMS3 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1333Mhz: 133.92
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W: 81.45
Corsair Hydro Series H100: 114.99
Cougar CF-V12H 120mm Fan (x4): 55.68
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM: 79.99
EVGA GeForce 680 4GB: 519.99
Total Invested: $1763 ($1804 with extra cables)

Going to set up the H100 as a Push-Pull, and try for 4.5-4.8 out of my 3770K.

On a side note I plan on lighting and Heat Shrinking all of the wires, what sizes of heat shrink do you think I should get, and lengths? Also I'm planning 4 sticks of 12'' Cold Cathode (Red).

Just ordered 4 12'' Cold Cathode's, 10 ft. of 1/4'' sleeving, and 10ft. of 1/2'' sleeving. Will still probably get here before my PSU and RAM, estimated date 12/5. *sigh*

You'll need 1/8" sleeving and heat shrink if you want to individually sleeve all of your wires.. and a bit more than 10'. If you want to sleeve a lot at a time, you can use that 1/4" and 1/2",though you'll still need more than 10'. Amazon has Mod/Smart sleeving in bundles for really cheap. $3.50 for 2- 10' lengths of sleeve IIRC.

Since most of the cabling will be tucked behind the motherboard, I'll be grouping what goes behind with just wire ties, leaving only what's exposed to get sleeved. 10' of each should be more than enough for that shouldn't it? I don't have the hands or patience to sleeve each individual wire, I'd probably burn through more replacement wires for the ones i'd rip off the plugs than I'd pay in sleeving everything at once.

Haha true. Individual sleeving is futile unless you're mindless (me). I did a build where I did the same you mentioned. Using partial sleeving and tucking everything behind Works out pretty good if you twist-tie or ziptie the sleeving out of sight to keep it tight. Heat shrink will still be need at the connector side if you want it to look clean, else it'll be frayed sleeving.

As far as your components, everything looks good. I don't know of the mobo but all the other components are top notch.

Thanks, the mobo is an Intel Z77. It has two pci-e 3.0 slots, so I'll throw another 680 in later. Only downside is it runs 16x/8x in an sli.

The pictures look crappy but I took them on the way out of the office for lunch, I'll replace them once I get my PSU/RAM and take the parts to my house. Just figured I'd post an update until the rest comes in.

Got lucky playing with settings, temps are low though so I'm going to push for 5Ghz+ stable. I'll post the pictures of the build tomorrow when I get done tearing it apart again to do the cable sleeving.

Edit: my RAM still hasn't come in, I'm using loaners until they do. Then I can start playing with RAMdisk setups.
