Need some help with 3770k and dual/tri crossfire

Is it worth crossxfiring two 7970s will the performance be good ? and I need some help with the best board to go with for tri crossfire (My psu only supports tri sli/cross).

Additional info:

I am going to be aircooling my 3770k to hopefully 4.5 ghz stable if not 4.5 ill sit anywhere between 4.2-4.4. Ill be using the noctua nh-d14 or the silver arrow or whatever is recommened I might try the H100 if i hear better things about it.

Will I need to go full water loop for tri crossxfire?

Which 7970 would be best for tri/dual crossxfire.

Is the tri 7970 set up worth the extra card and extra heat?

My case is the rosewill Thor v2.

I got 3 delta custom made 310 cfm fans to throw in along with 3 high cfm rosewills (110+)
(quick question if i go with the H100 or the aircoolers if i were to mod the delta's with 310 cfm onto the coolers whether its the H100 or aircooler would the increased cfm increase cooling performance?)

Am I going to need additional cooling for tri cross?

will my performance really go up that much from tri-cross as compared to dual crossfire 7970s?

yes you will wana wc a tri sli setup..they will run very very warm cause of no space being between them..but depending on the cooler of the card. and there is only a few boards that support tri sli on the nvidia side..you are limited to the lanes of the 3770k..truely its not worth it..you should have the 3820 or 3930k that way you could run them at full 16x 16x 8x insted of 8x4x4. or you could get a plx chip z77 but on benchmarks theres alot of lag compared to a sli board..but theres the gigabyte or evga or asrock all have plx chips on i believe only one model...but i would only buy 2 cards and oc the crap out of them..3 you would loose performance.and added heat would be to much..

Honestly I was thinking of grabbing the Maximus V Extreme with 8x 16x 8x or 8x 8x but I was under the impression 8x Pcie 3.0 = 16x pcie 2.0

I may go with a single 690 (i would go for the 7990 if there were any that could be oced well rofl copters you can oc 2x 7950s to max stable if u get good cards and they will destroy the 7990 at max oc)

yes 8x = x16...i wouldnt get a 690 cause the 790 will be out and its 1000 dollars..i would get 2 nice gtx 680s and sli...i have 2 lightnings and i wouldnt even trade mine for 2 690s...the resale value of the 690 is horrible just like the 590.. and sli looks very sexy in a case..and is more powerful then the 690..and do you know the 690 on has 2gb of vram useable.

ya right now for some odd reason!!!!!! amd is really showing off what there cards can do..but nvidia allways strikes back with drivers..its been several times back and forth between the two to take the crown. and you get 3gb of vram. but no one knows if they will support there cards when the new gen comes out...amd is notorious for abanding driver support for older cards
