Clarification on multiple monitors

Current Question: Ok so I need an active display port adapter to use 3 monitors. Can I use an active DP to VGA adapter or does it have to be DP to HDMI/DVI? Active DP to VGA adapters seem to be a little bit cheaper than their HDMI counterparts. Thinking of this.

I just got a third monitor. So now I have two VGA monitors and one monitor using HDMI. I have an HIS 5770 on Win7 64. Can I or can I not run all three monitors from the one card with adapters? I only need the one HDMI monitor for gaming, the other two are just extra work space.

My card has two DVI outs that I used to connect the HDMI and the first VGA monitor. Then when I tried to plug the second VGA monitor into another HDMI adapter, and the HDMI monitor into the HDMI port, I could only get one of the VGA monitors to work, but windows and catalyst recognized all three. Do I need to get a display port adapter for one of them to get them all to work, or will i need a second card?

From the research I've done, it looks like I'll need a second card, but it never hurts to double check.

Here's what the back of my card looks like so you van visualize the ports and what I'm trying to do.

I believe that you can connect up to 2 displays with your HD5770, the third display requires the use of a display port output. You can buy active display port adapters, or you can purchase a monitor that has a display port input, but generally the adapters cost much less.

I do not know what games you plan on playing, or what resolution or settings you plan on using, but I doubt a single 5770 will be enough to achieve whatever your plans may be. What games do you plan on playing?

I only need the other two monitors for workspace, they are not for gaming. The 5770 handles the games I play at 1920x1080 pretty well for now.

Would this work? It's a passive display port to HDMI adapter so the 5770 needs to be able to output an HDMI signal through the DP, can it?

It must be an active display port adapter in order to use all three monitors. I have this one

I think you may still need a displayport adapter. Im am not 100 percent sure though.
