FX-8350 worth it for gaming? - Page 23

Most likely intel, because so much bad stuff is being said of the FX-series and admittedly intel is ahead in gaming @stock, but I would take the extra cores since the gaming difference is so small.

About 30 FPS on all Very High, it is playable because it perfectly smooth.

I'm getting about 45 FPS on all High with the 7870.

The Crytek engine offen times prefers Intel CPU's, so that really isn't a fair comparison, along with the fact that the GPU was never stated, that can boost performance.

-If I add another GTX 680 in the future to SLI, will I see a bottleneck with the FX 8350 at 5Ghz+? If so, how much do you believe?
No. You will see a few more frames in games that aren't multi-threaded with Intel, though.
Quote:
-If I get a FX-8350 to 5ghz+, how much of an improvement would it be over the benchmarks that show it at stock?
Around 20 percent more CPU power. How that translates into real-world performance depends on the application you're using at the time. But a significant difference nonetheless. At 5 GHz, an 8350 can beat a 3770K in multi-threaded applications.
Quote:
-Do YOU see the FX 8350 and up aging well with more games using more cores?
Yes, definitely.
Quote:
-Do YOU guys see Steamroller and up being another step in the right direction, or a barely increased performance over Piledriver?
Probably 10-15 percent better, like AMD has said all along. They delivered on Piledriver over Bulldozer, so there's no reason to think they can't continue the trend. It will help them that this is still a fairly new microarchitecture. I think Intel may be reaching the limits of theirs, seeing as how Ivy Bridge isn't all that much better than Sandy Bridge, and that the Core microarchitecture has progressed through several revisions already.

compare the 8350 to the 9650 and you've got similarly priced builds with a huge difference in performance; amd on top.

looks like there are plenty of uninformed people making completely false statements without doing their research.

where is vishera in comparison to lynnfield there?
