It would take AMD a few generations to catch up to the "gaming performance" an i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz+ would give.
this statement is so wrong. when you buy an FX8350 system without a doubt you're gonna spend a bit of money. why would you settle for "playable performance" when a system like an i3 that's way more cheaper will outperform it in some ares? doesn't really rhyme with the price:performance that amd have been preaching for years don't get me wrong here. I think amd gpu's are great as well as the apu's and price:performance they're really great. AMD cpu's is a much tougher pill to swallow. I'll never recommend it on a gaming build

alot of people do more than gaming, I do alot of encoding as well as play games.... so why dont you just tell everyone to buy i3's, people buy stuff to be future proof, why dont you go in the intel threads and tell people to go buy i3's in stead of i7's? .... people asking about amd chips in the Amd section, why hammer them about intel? if they had question about intel dont you think they'd post in the intel section? or are they curios about other amd chips? if your going to force intel on people just try and be less rude about it plz, a little less "AMD is horrible for gaming" would be appreciated thumb.gif

The newest FX chips outperform their Phenom II counterparts in most/all aspects. Moot.

FX-6300 vs Phenom II x6 1100T. Cinebench: FX-6300 continues to outperform 1100T in single-thread, and comes slightly behind in multi-thread - nothing that this synthetic result does not seem to have an effect on real-world results because the 6300 is still outperforming in tasks like video transcoding. The average 1100T will OC to 4-4.2GHz or 21-27% on good air cooling. The average FX-6300 will OC to 4.8-5Ghz or 37-42% on good air cooling.

I wonder where is the FX-6300 and 4300 in this discussion. The FX 6300 provides the same performance for most games which do not demand more than 2 cores or even 4 cores while coming at a price that is more competitive with the Ivy Bridge i3 than i5 (but providing the advantages). Now that may be a worthwhile chip for gaming.

I do agree. an FX8350 vs. an FX4300 would basically have the same performance in games (when both are clocked the same) they're very well priced too.

Why? 8350 is a server type cpu.It lacks performance per core if you compare it with the intel's offer. If you take account that most games is 2 thread you need more performance per core. Thuban have higher IPS than 8350.

You can play just fine with a 8350. But if you buy a 8-core cpu just for gaming is dumb. Its a cpu for specific works. The same way that sb-e is.

uhmm where did you get that from the post that I just quoted? I even mentioned it's not recommended to get an i3 if you want the most optimal performance.

im not even being sarcastic. I'm really gonna learn to sugar coat my words this time. ima settle for something like "amd will perform not as good with gaming" or "will be inferior in gaming than their intel counterparts" sounds a lot nicer but basically the same thing rolleyes.gif

i would like proof that a 2120 + 470 combo can handle dota2 better than an 8150 + 7950 combo pls. or just stop posting misinformation.
EDIT: it looks like they have similar gaming performance.

lmao l0max. he found the answer himself. ignored the fact that even with a small number of games tested the FX8150 lost 3 out of 4 tests but he still considered it as "similar gaming performance" doh.gif

All you've been doing is debating symantics and for what purpose? Just because you are trying to prove that AMD is playable has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread, your point is not in context with the OP, you are just arguing unreasonably with symantics because you want to prove your own off topic point yet you then go and ADMIT the validity of the actual debate of the thread and my total argument was "It's not as good as intel with gaming" PERIOD not this useless debate must prove myself right nonsense.
