Yes congratulations on third place. I am in the process of trying to design a system to do this using TEC's. I know a lot more inefficient but this is how I want to do it. Part of my job is refrigeration so this would not be fun to me I want to build a TEC cooled system I can do close to the same temps as you.

Well its been close to 2 months and I had recently noticed the CPU getting above 0 degrees so decided to take the evap head off and have a look to see how the TIM was holding up. AS5 under -40 for 2 months creates a sort of plastic.. when wiped with a tissue it had the consistency of dust? Either way never seen TIM like this :O

Phase system seems more responsive again, gets back to temp after extended time on load, idle is colder etc etc.

Using Artic Ceramique as thats all I could get locally, will be trying some Gelid Extreme next time.

Just taken off, slightly frosty.

Not a bad seat!

Weird discoloration in the centre, can see the plastic-like crust around the copper base... terribad.

Hardly resembles TIM

Sent the pictures to Artic via email questioning what has happened here.

Response:

Hello Marc,

Moisture has contaminated the thermal interface.

Best Regards,

Colin

Guess that's why Alatar advised against AS5 earlier in the thread. tongue.gif

That response email was very short, almost absurdly so. A little extra info from him wouldn't go amiss!

I thought exactly that Smokin, was a shame would have liked for him to elaborate a bit more, thought I was being nice by offering product feedback.

Great looking build, and really enjoyed your thread with all the nice pictures smile.gif One of the best looking builds I have seen in quite a long time, and awesome hardware too!

I am thinking of doing something similar to yours next build with the same case, I really love the look of LD cases!
But there is only one thing, and that is noise. I have a chronic headache, and therefor need a very silent computer so I don't go mad hehe..

Could you please give me some kind of info on how the sound from the phase is? I have searched online for hours without finding any good indication other than "it's quite to be a phase" is the best I have found so far.

If you can tell me, or perhaps take a video of the unit (of only the it running) I would be forever in your debt smile.gif

Thanks

Ill work on getting a video of it asap for you mate, thanks for the kind words.

If anything the only audible part of the unit is the pwm controlled scythe 120x38 3000rpm fan thats used to cool the lot. Other then that its silent, but will get a video for you soon smile.gif

Thank you mate, and my kind words are well deserved thumb.gif

Alright! Sounds scary using Ultra Kaze 3k on it, as that thing is an airplane lol.

Will be exiting to hear the unit, have wondered since I first saw LD when he was starting up, sadly his english skills where poor at best. But hey he makes damned good cases at least!
