Windows won't load!

well rig was finally working good for the last few weeks. Decided to update my GPU drivers with the latest released ones off the nvidia site. So uninstalled my old drivers put on the new ones and reset and all was dandy. So gamed for about an hour and turned off the pc for about 20 minutes.

Then went to game again and turned on the PC and now windows won't even load? Won't even boot in safe mode, just keeps resetting. Surely this wasn't because of the GPU drivers? I put my Hard drive in my mates PC and it won't even read anything on it?

So a fresh install is probably coming tonight. Seriously hope i don't loose everything on the disk but looks like i might.

You tried resetting the BIOS yet? You know, pull out the watch battery on the motherboard with the power unplugged? Might not help, but it's unlikely to hurt anything and might solve the problem.

Try a repair install of Windows before a format and reinstall. It takes almost as long but all your programs, icons, shortcuts etc should still be in place when you finish the repair install.

Another thought that comes to mind, is that this could be a HDD issue. Use another PC to go to your HDD manufacturer’s web site and download their "OS Independent" diagnosis software, if they have any. Sometimes this software can identify and fix problems which may just reoccur if you just do another install/repair install.

EDIT: Seatools for Seagate.

Highly-Annoyed

You can't read your HD? The old saying is that if they fail, it'll be within the first 100 hours or not at all.

If your drive is bad I think you know the score, you are SOL.

Thanks for all your help guys, especially liked the HDD analysis tool for seagate! thanks!

I was completely stumped as i couldn't do jack, so just tried to format and it wouldn't even let me format. Looks like HDD is completely buggered, had it for 2 months but got it for a super low price from a dodgy store, already returned 2 parts to there and this is the last part i bought from them out of my PC that i will be returning! Luckily i have a spare 80GB lying around i can use in the mean time!!!!!! thanks guys!!
