More ominous signs from AMD.

Kaveri was a Steamroller based APU originally scheduled to be released sometime in 2013.

Kaveri isn't 'cancelled' like that, it has been fused with Richland, which is still Piledriver based, instead of Steamroller. Hopefully it will feature GCN-based graphics, so I can sell my A10 a month before it releases, and when Richland comes out, pick the equivalent APU smile.gif

And by the way, didn't we know already that Steamroller had been pushed to 2014?

Steamroller Kaveri was "officially" supposed to launch in 2013 according to AMD's roadmap. FX-series Steamroller was scheduled to ship in 2014 and I assume this is still the plan but who knows if AMD will be business by then given the current trends.

AMD refutes Kaveri cancelation rumor, claims ‘big cores’ still a priority:

Interesting read. Im hoping that all the delays are because theyre killing off the Bulldozer design in favor of something that can compete with Intel at a much better level. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Troll much ? AMD competes just fine in the price segments they have their products placed in. the bulldozer design is here to stay, get over your self righteous butthurt.

"Tear everything up and start over!"

OhReally?!

How long do you think it takes to create, test, and begin production of an entirely new uProc architecture? (Remember, they are in the process of firing many of their engineers.)
When do you foresee this miracle chip hitting the market?
Yea..... rolleyes.gif

IMO, it's far too late for this sort of approach.

I don't think they are firing design engineers, I'd bet money, they are firing the useless engineers that don't design and validate product. Trust me, every large companys has miles of useless manager/engineers, useless things they are.

if you read the article, they basicly admit they are making assumptions/just guessing rolleyes.gif

No they do not. AMD is getting smashed in the desktop enthusiast market. Im not saying performance wise. Performance wise the 8350 goes toe to toe with intels 3570k which is in the same price bracket, it even beats the 3570k in a good amount of benchmarks. However, the truth is they are just not selling like they should be. I for one think the architecture is just not being fully utilized with software. AMD should still scrap the module/core design and go back to a phenom 2 type of core and just die shrink it and optimize the crap out of it.

I love my 6300 it tears up every thing I do, and more new games are starting to utilize 6+ cores ie BF3, Black ops 2, crysis 3 ect. I just think AMD could do so much better. Unfortunately they don't have enough money to throw at R&D like Intel does. Will they go out of business? Doubt it, or lets hope not cause when a company has a monopoly on the market it never works good for the consumer.
