Looking for speaker setup ($400-$600)

Hey guys,

Interested in a speaker setup for my basement. Looking to spend around 400-600 bucks, but if the golden zone is above or below, I can change the range if needed.

I will be playing from an iPod or laptop and prefer it to be loud. It will be used for parties in a decent sized room. Nothing too massive needed.

As with any party speakers, bass, kick, and volume are important. Looking for one or two speakers, not really sure if either is a big advantage.

Open to all ideas here too.

Thanks a ton in advance.

So do they need an amp or receiver? What's the best option for the price range (they have a lot to offer)?

Thanks and +rep for the help

Yes, you would still need a receiver or amp/preamp. For your application, I'd check your local Craigslist first and see whats available. For example: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/ele/3356854384.html

So if you could have ANY setup around $600, what would the entire setup be? I don't even know where to start looking at speakers, amps, or anything else needed. Also, I know it seems odd, but I'd rather buy new, just the way I am tongue.gif

$600 for a new rig that would stand up to that kind of punishment on a regular basis would be near impossible.

Well then, what's the best that is possible? It is just for apartment parties, not house parties. I think you're thinking this is for something bigger than it is tongue.gif
