All thoughts and concerns are welcome.. I'm currently using a Phenom II 555 unlocked and overclocked to 3.6... Sure would be nice to have 8 cores @ 4ghz +

I am using bios 3030 atm... only problem I am getting is:
Unstable voltages (superb vDroop) when Bus speed is not used for overclocks. That is above 205? maybe I'm not sure...
So I can't overclock by just increasing multiplier, I must either do a mixture of the two or just bus speed.

Even with ^ problem, the FX 8350 is still MUCH better than FX8150, there is no competition, it'd be a really good upgrade from what you are currently using tongue.gif

I'm not sure myself but i used a sempron to flash it to 3029 using the bios ez flash or something then installed the 8350. So just to be on safe side flash the bios to 3029/3030 first.

For some strange reason you will only get your CPU/NB voltage down to 1.45v.
I love this topic.

Thanks for that, really good read too. If only i read it before my purchase, I think with the cpu nb so high, temperatures arent reading correctly when you stress the chip or something. So i think their exceeding some point so its throttling the speed.

The lowest cpu nb-vid i can boot with is 1.3875, but i can only go down in intervals of 4 after 1.45. Intervals of 8, it will not boot. At 1.3875, the system is not stable, minimum of 1.4 is needed.

I see, i'm able to boot in at 5ghz too, but only 4.4 is stable. So i think the vdroop i experienced in my case maybe coming from a combination of high vcore and high cpu nb vid. Temperatures are topping it off too high.

Its really nice to hear other people's experience. Can understand alot more about whats actually going on.

Thanks for that +rep smile.gif

I'm still trying desperately to hit 5ghz, but atm only 4.82-4.9 seems pausible. Im afraid i might have to wait till winter if my ambients keep topping at 35 degrees @@

hello,
the cpu-nb vid could be related to the power recycling unit that makes the fx 8350 more power efficient, I cant say for sure as I have read nothing more than that on the cpu.
what I mean is that I only know that the fx 83xx recycles power for higher clocks.
