Do I need a new PSU for an ASUS GTX 680?

Hi everyone,

Title says it all. Do I need a new PSU for an ASUS GTX 680? Come PSU Calculators say yes, others no.

Specs (all stock except for obviously the OC on the ASUS GTX cards):

Intel corei5 3570k
MSI Z77A-G45
ASUS GTX 560 DCII OC
OCZ ModxStream Pro 500w
Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8gb
Hyper 212+
regular old HDD (7200rpm I think)
USB Keyboard and Mouse

Any ideas? Thanks!

Nope, 500W is plenty. Who/what told you needed more?

You'll be fine.

The ASUS and Newegg PSU calculators. ASUS had 550w minimum PSU and Newegg had 510w minimum PSU.

Edit: The extremetake one had my minimum as 448w.

Dont worry, you'll be fine with 500w. As long as you have 2x6 pin pcie connectors.

As long as my PSU has 2 x 6pin PCIe connectors?

Edit: Newegg states that I have "1 x 6-Pin, 1 x 6+2-Pin" and "2 x PCI-E" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016).

I am assuming that this will work with the ASUS GTX 680?

Yes, to power your card...

Don't worry, your system will only take maybe 400W at full load, and probably less in real world usage. thumb.gif
