Unhappy Outcome to Graphics Card RMA.

Thread Starter
Hi all,

Just a quick question to where I stand regarding an RMA on a Graphics Card, Manufactured by 3rd Party POINT OF VIEW

The card in question is a GTX560Ti.

It was returned to the 3rd party manufacturers and they have returned another GTX560Ti that is clearly secondhand but in a new box, it has witness marks on the DVI connectors and screw marks where it has been fastened into a PC and a bent back plate.

The fan shroud has scratches on it and a few other marks.

Also it smells burnt, as if it has had a short at some time.

I have emailed them back within 1 hour of taking delivery of the returned card, not been nasty, but have been firm and to the point that I am not a happy bunny..and want this resolved asap.

I have also told them that this replacement card will not be going into my PC.

The policy for RMA for within 1 year, which it was, is a replacement for same or similar/better or credit, outside this time its a repair etc.

They did not email me back regarding what they proposed to do regarding the outcome of the old card.

I feel let down, has anyone else had issues with RMA`s to various 3rd party Graphics Card.

Thanks again.

Revo.

Edited to disclose card manufacturer.

I never had an issue with 3rd party RMA's. I know you might be mad, i was mad that mine took a long time to get to me, but if the card is working fine, and does not have any performance issues. I'll say you should stick with it, it's not really worth it to ship back again and have them ship another card to you that you don't know if it would be a bad overclocker.

Test the card, overclock it if possible, and if it shows any bad signs, like crashing on low overclock, blank screens, or overheating, then you should go through with getting that second hand card replaced. wink.gif

It is standard practice for just about any electronic device/component to exchange for a refurbished unit. You should not expect new.

No point in not disclosing the manufacturer, this kind of marketing loyality is not helping the cause concealing their mistake, they have an obligation with the consumers purchase of a product to adhear to the warranty at a minimum and to to provide the customer atleast satisfactory support and service in all areas, its part of what your paying for.

Information especially with regards to retruns is crucial keeps the consumers money from those that wander from that respect, and going to those companies that realize the customer is always right. Seperate the weeds and tares.

This, you have your rights to complain but as far as they're concerned as long as it works and is fully functional.. A bent backplate is a bit far though, I know you said be sincere about it which yes in saying that you're on the right track.

I'm guessing its an ASUS non-reference 560ti? As I've only heard of ASUS bending the brackets like that..

EDIT: It does make sense though, you give them a non-working used card then they give you a used working card. To me that is fair, though the condition can sometimes be questionable. This drives the price down, recycles used cards (that they have fixed) and allows for a quicker replacement to be dispatched to you.

test it. it may be used but if it's a great overclocker then why not. i bet it's a working card with zero problems whatsoever. I do understand why he's pissed tho. I have only experienced one rma via shipping my whole life and it was very pleasant one. rma'd a gtx 285 and I got a brand new gtx 480 for a replacement. I love evga smile.gif

Turns out good for both of you then, the company can only do what is viable though. I.E They don't have any GTX285's, the GTX480 is in the same tier as what the 285 was so it makes sense for them to replace it with that. That any they do want to make their customers happy, eVGA are good but again you can't blame the other companies for sending you refurb cards. After all, you only paid for a working card and they should only have to replace it with a working card in the warranty period (that matches or beats the performance), I'm afraid that's just how it works.

Some companies (eVGA mostly) will "swap" your second card off you if you have two in SLI and give you two identical replacements cards. Others will just say "Tough Luck"

Ah yes.. Hmm,
I've never heard of "Point of View" or if I have it's one of those names that hasn't stuck at all.

Can i suggest you give them a call and rename your titlr and initial thread to include the brand?

I am of the view that if you are selling a product in a region which has clear consumer protection rules, you do not have a choice to do that what is required from you as a minimum.

Pov is a well known company. It is not asus or evga but it is a more or less established name.
