So a friend has intrusted me with some cash to build him a computer.
Now a lot of you will rant and rave hes wasting his money, i agree and tried explaining this. But hes stubborn and wants it go big or go home.
He just bought a i7,2600k when all hes going to be doing mostly is playing lol and probably facebook games ><
Seems its always the ones that like spending money are the ones that dont do anything with it ><
Anywho, he wants me to pick the best of the best for a mobo.
So as per hes words, i want the most overkill board.
Ive rounded up these
GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 3
ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE ATX
ASRock Z77 Extreme9 ATX
EVGA Z77 FTW 151-IB-E699-KR

So which would you grab if you wanted to overdo it? Why? Which features sell you the most, cause its obvious it comes down to personal taste at this point. Or would you recommend something else?

If he wants best of the best, he should be looking at Asus Maximus V Extreme and Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7.

All these boards though is a waste of money unless he is planning to run 3-4 GPUs.

I would not buy EVGA, Asus and ASRock boards that your are listed because current EVGA boards are full of bugs, that Asus board just doesn't justify its price, and Extreme9 uses 4 phase PWM with doubled channels on $300 board... G1 Sniper 3 is an exceptional value though. It supports 4 way SLI, has Creative audio, and Killer NIC.

Also if your friend wants to spend money, why don't you guys build a LGA2011 system with 3930K?

Thats why i figured id ask, he asks me questions and i dont know much better.

Ill look at both the Vextreme and UP7
Well, other boards aren't bad too, but I can't see anything that justifies their price compared to G1 Sniper 3.

Alright great, see i look at the comparision charts and they kinda all looked the same lol
What are the key points as to why it stands out?

Also i had wrote in my last post just didnt show up, but i heard the new 3930 was only a touch better then the 2600k whichis why I told my friend he may as well go with something time tested.
There is no such thing as a time tested CPU. They don't just fail like HDDs, SSDs, motherboards and etc. You can go to the fastest and don't think back.

3930K is 6 core CPU, and it should be 30% faster on tasks that can use 6 cores based on 2 additional cores alone.

Also if you decide to stay with LGA1155, you should consider 3770K. It is going to be hotter than 2600K, but support PCI-E 3.0 and x8/x4/x4 GPU configurations. It also has 60% faster iGPU.

I already wrote why G1 sniper 3 stands out compared to 3 other boards that you listed.

WHY ON EARTH would you sink so much money into socket LGA 1155 THIS LATE?! Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY RAGE TOWARDS THIS STUPIDITY

Seriously, to build an extreme rig now and NOT go 2011... well it's just downright dumb.
If he already has the i7-2600K get a basic socket 1155 board and ignore his silly cries.
By basic I mean:
- AsRock Z77 Extreme4
- Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
etc.

Pretty much this. LGA1155 is EOL.
These boards will satisfy the needs of most people. I would personally advice to spend a bit more for UD3H, GD55, and Biostar boards if one plans to overclock and keep it long term.

Just reread OP and figured that your friend already bought 2600K... My prediction is that PCI-E 2.0 x8 is going to become a problem for multi GPU configs in a near future.

I'd advise this too, but my inner cheap-ass self is yelling "NO NO NO NO NO"
