Just show him this thread... There is absolutely no logic behind buying a top of the line motherboard for LGA 1155 anymore. Go socket 2011 or buy a cheaper motherboard.

WHY ON EARTH would you sink so much money into socket LGA 1155 THIS LATE?!
Is it really going to matter that much? Haswell isn't going to be all that much of a performance increase.

Also, you're going to have to pay $600 for a CPU to see any performance increase with 2011; 1155 and 2011 is a big gap.

The G1 Sniper 3 is the best of those boards; the EVGA one has problems, and I have been warned against Asrock. The Sniper has good onboard audio, a killer nic, and can also run up to 4 graphics cards.

Yes the G1 is the best, clearly, but my point is that there is no point spending a lot of money on a motherboard in this situation, especially not for 1155

Well, if you don't plan on upgrading for several years, and are likely to run multiple graphics cards, then it is probably worth getting. There's also the E-peen factor.
I didn't consider the e-peen factor. Maybe that's what this is all about.

Well, there's a problem if he looks inside of his case or BIOS, unfortunately.

I have a Asus z77 sabertooth just sitting here collecting dust if interested shoot me a PM.
or... browse our for sale section and see if anyone is dumping a used Z68 or P67 board on the cheap. save the cash and buy a second graphics card or save for haswell, who knows. Why would u consider a Z77 board at full price for a 2600k that doesn't have PCI3.0 anyways.
