MDPC-X Crimper!!! - Page 6

I'm seriously considering buying the patent and his manufacturer of crimp / sleeve. Honestly, its so good it has to continue. I don't care if I make money off of it, I just want the sleeving available to everyone!

Good.. Cause I thought we were going to have to kidnap him, and force him to work for us like we have with other German scientists tongue.gif

No, Nils has never said anything about leaving. But, let's look at things realistically. How long does one go on before it's time to move on with their life?
Nils has a plan in place. He's got a few years before he's ready to walk away.

Imo, you guys are slightly exggerating lol I don't see why he would stop Mdpc, any time soon. He isn't old or uncapable (afaik). Move on with life? Meh. I think Nils is living the moment and enjoying every sec of it. biggrin.gif

i hope you guys understand that this guy doesnt actually manufacture this stuff (the crimper)? if he left and truely loves the modding community he would let other vendors know who his supplier is. the world would move on.

There's no single factory behind it. If there was, then that manufacturer would be making ever effort to find more distributors in order to move more units than the few hundred than Nils ships each year. I can't know for sure, but pretty sure he sources the handle and dies separately and does the final construction himself. He's also made reference in the past that he is forced to dump many parts that don't meet his exacting standards. That's why Nils includes the testing crimps, to reassure the consumer that he himself is solely responsible for the end product. smile.gif

Not to go off topic or anything but do my MDPC-X crimpers work on molex bullet type pins used in water cooling pumps? If not where do I find such a tool with high quality bullet type pins?

Thanks

I would think it should work as it is the same gauge wire for molex as the rest of the pins in the power supply.

I'd advise against. The inner wings on the old Molex 4-pin type are twice the length of the inner wings of the MiniFitJr pin type. So with each crimp you'll be crushing twice as much material into that small space as it's designed to. That will slowly but surely destroy the part of the crimper than makes the nice B shape around the bare wire. Better to just use long-nose pliers smile.gif
