Cool. It sucks that everyone puts a pic of pins with longer wings, but then you get something totally different.

I really should get an MDPC crimper. With as much stuff as I order from him, I'm surprised I'm still using that FTWPC crimper. It's not bad, it's just sometimes "hit or miss", even after paying extra for the "hand tuning".

Stealforce was kind enough to point me to pcmzd.com and they have the pins with the long wings. He was kind enough to send me a pic of the pins with a caliper showing that they have the long pins, and for $.04 a pop (when buying 50 or more) that's not a bad deal in my books. I emailed they guy and he claims that all pins that they have meet the molex specs for wing length, etc.

I ordered 300 hopefully should be here by the weekend.
post #86 of 133
The "long pins" are simply standard molex brand pins. If you buy them branded molex they will or should have the long ends. thumb.gif

I ordered my pins from digikey. You can also order them from mouser. Just type in the number 039000038 by itself or with molex next to the number and you should get the right ones. BTW the digikey ones I know for a fact have the right wing size and also come in gold plated as well.

link to digikey search '039000038' ---> http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=039000038

The 39000038 pins are not gold plated the base material is brass, terminal contact is tin also the mating contact is tin

The gold pins are very expensive, and most places does not stock them, if they do you have to pony up at least $0.23-0.24 a pop. If you find them for less than that price or less expensive its 99% chance they are not true longer wing molex pins. .
The bass material and terminal contact is same as the 39000038 however the mating contact is gold plated.

Good catch on my mistake, I really meant to imply that the Digikey's 39000038 regular pins (non gold plated) have the right size wings. On another note you can get the 39000038 pins in a gold plating. The 39000039 on Digikey looked gold plated, but might be a tin over copper plating.
