Exactly. Do what I did and tell the vendors you don't like their crappy pins. They are very resistant to the idea, but if enough people tell them they won't have any choice but stock decent pins.
People that don't actually crimp pins don't have a clue about what a "good" pin is. I was very surprised from the response I got from a well known vendor, in spite of the fact I've spend literally thousands of dollars in their store.
I also pointed out that they were probably discouraging people that are just starting out with sleeving and crimping.(after they told me I was basically full of it).

So tell them what you think. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.........

I have been told that by a huge vendor too, along with that I should call and talk to the lady that crimps the cables for them to get a lesson, and that I buy their tool cos the MDPC crimping tool is not the right tool.

For those who were interested in the Golden ATX pins I was bored and looking around Digikey and found them. Note that they are both the same part number with either a TR or CT denoting the type/how they are sold. I knew I have seen them on the DigiKey site just a matter of time after going through the pages of minifit jr. connectors. Also the Tape-Reel has an example picture, but the Cut-Tape doesn't.

please view: www.yu-yuan.com.tw and TAB Connector Crimping Tool YYT-B10 --- this is the MDPC-X Crimping Tool.

please view www.opttools.com (Lun-Yuan Enerprise Co. Ltd) and Ratchet Crimping Tool SN-02B --- this is modDIY crimping tool and this tool does not crimp ATX pins as well as Yu-Yuan tool (MDPC-X)

re: molex atx pins - Seasonic uses Young Yak Enterprise Co., Taiwan for X series Platinum and Gold series modular cable connectors/pins --- see YY-5700 connector housings/YY-5800 connector housings and ATX pins female & male --- modDIY.com offers Young Yak Premium Gold Plated ATX Female Pin Long Wing is equal component quality / functionality to molex gold plated.

www.youngyak.com.tw and www.youngyak.com --- I have only found modDIY.com offering the YY ATX gold long wing female pins.

I only purchase for my own use --- as you all understand the crimping tool manufacturers normally do not sell one piece directly

cheers

That's the handle/body Nils uses, but that's not the same crimping die.
