GA-Z77X-D3H and i7 3770k Overclock help

Hi guys how are you?

Firts of all sorry for my English, I`m from Brazil

I have a 17 3770K and my mobo is one Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H, i always had Asus with mine old 920, so i don`t know how to play with this bios

I`m using this 3770k stock, just with turbo on, so i can get 3.9

I would like to OC this one a little, not so much, because i`m not an exppert and don`t wanna spend much time doing tests

So, to get 4.2, 4.4 or something like that what would you recommend?

I use the H100 WC here

Thanks thumb.gif

almost all 3770k will do 4.2ghz on auto, dont need to change anything,
except cpu clock ratio in bios, you can try that, take a note on what vcore it uses
under load with cpu-z, and keep a eye on your temps at all times ..lol,
realtemp is a good program to use for that smile.gif

for 4.4ghz you prolly have to change auto cpu vcore to a fixed vcore.
sin's guide was a good help for me, hes using a gigabyte mobo too,

Take a look what i did

I set the max turbo to 40 so when the cpu enters at turbo mode goes to 4.0

But i tried IBT and with almost seconds turned on the temps jumped to 97 98!!!!!

I doon`t know if it is related to Turbo mode or high auto voltage that cpu cam make in this situations....

What do you recommend me to do?

Thanks

dont use ibt, then use prime, it runs cooler,
i used AIDA64 when i started ocing my 3770k,
it has a stability test etc, but runs about 10-15C cooler then prime..
you sure you mounted your H100 right, it could be that also..

you could try run a fixed vcore instead of auto,
it would lower your temps some more, auto most of the times gives way to much
4.0ghz could prolly run on 1.0V vcore, or a bit more, 1.05V-1.10V vcore

My goal is 4.2

what vcore do you think i can start to 4.2?

I have to disable another thing or change another thing like turbo mode and other stuffs?

Thanks

start with 1.2V, you prolly need less then that, others run 1.10V or lower with a good one,
its a startpoint..if 1.2V vcore runs, lower it, if not, up it some more
cpu pll, its on auto, and normally its 1.8V, you can lower it some,
to stabilize the oc, and lower temps a bit, try 1.75V for starters.
some go as low as 1.5V, i used to have it on 1.6-1.75..

vcore loadline calibration, is best set to Turbo,
it gives you a bit vdroop..

i would also check if you have your H100 mounted well,
those temps seem high to me with only 4.2ghz,
even if you have a bad chip tempwise

Man you got it

I found the issue

The guy whou mounted my H100 did it wrong, not fixed as dhloud be and no thermal paste

Now with IBT 4.2 everything on AUTO in Bios, i`m getting max 77, just let this way?

Another thing, i`ve turned off turbo when putted 4.2, turn on again os just let it off

Thanks again
