i5 3570k Quiet build. Thoughts/Advice? (lots of corsair...)

I'm looking to build a quiet machine, which I will slightly overclock to have a good balance between temps and noise. I'm going for a plain/sleek look. This is all just a idea in my head. Let me hear your ideas/thoughts.

CPU - i5 3570k - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

Case - Corsair 550D - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139012

PSU - HX750 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010

Mobo - Asrock z77 Extreme 4 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293

RAM - Corsair XMS3 16GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145357

Cooler - Corsair H80i (push/pull with SP120 Quiets) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181031

GPU - PNY GTX 680 (I already own) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133469&Tpk=PNY%20GTX%20680

SSD (boot/few games) - Corsair Neutron 120GB SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233340

HDD (storage) - WD VelociRaptor 500 GB (probably overkill) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236367

Case Fans - Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181020

Optic drives and other bs I already have (no need to upgrade what I use once a year for windows reformat..)

Whats everyones thoughts on this? Trying to have a good balance between performance and a sleek quiet box.

Why ivy bridge? Sandy would probably be better for a quiet build, as it's easier to cool, unless you plan on delidding.

You're right Sandy would be quieter, but overall the i5 3570k is faster at lower clock. I figured the noise under a H80i wouldn't be noticable.

looks good to me except for the velociraptor. you already have an SSD so just settle for a higher capacity hard drive. I actually have two velociraptors at raid0. still crap compared to a SSD. I paid like close to 500USD a few years ago for these drives. worst investment ever.

Why not try and get the Fractal Design Define R4 for the case? it has noise dampening make your build even more silent (and its cheaper biggrin.gif)
link HERE
from saving on the case, spend more and get the h100i it will cool alot better
IMHO 2x8gb on ram for gaming is a bit too much (considering this build is for gaming), else get 2x4gb and it would do the trick
Others would be fine smile.gif if you want silent dont to push/pull. From my experience push/pull or just push perform just about the same
get Samsung ssd if you can, its one of the most reliable ssd around
Use pwm fans on the CPU rad, youll save even more noise in there wink.gif

those are quiet edition fans. even on push/pull you will hardly hear them. h80i is more than enough. heck their difference in performance is very minimal (and this is coming from a guy with a h100i)

ram are so cheap these days so why not? look at the price it's 66.99. not bad if you ask me.

I do agree with the ssd. I've heard nothing but good things with the samsung drives thumb.gif

I'm really after a quiet case that doesnt have a side window for this build. Also the H80i and H100i are very close to eachother in cooling overall. If I got a h100i it'd be larger/more of a hassle to mount in the 550D. Also Push/Pull is just an idea. I'll probably just end up using 1 SP120 on it.

you don't need to worry about buying faster fans anyway. with the corsair link you can setup the fanspeeds similar to how it works with graphics cards with fan curves. you can setup the fan speed to rev up in a specific temperature threshold. corsair has done a fantastic job with the corsair link. I can hardly hear my system even when gaming thumb.gif (and I have loud silverstone FM121 fans. they're just running slow when the cpu temps are good)

Trust me I know about raid0 and velociraptor. I had 2 back a few years ago, and one died on me, and shortly after normal HDD speeds were better. I may just end up throwing a 7200 RPM 1 TB in for storage. The only reason I was thinking about the Velociraptor is for faster read on games if I fill my SSD, thought you are 100% right. Its very expensive for what it is aha.

h80i $109
h100i $119
i mean... cmon?
trust me a semi-thick 120mm rad with a 240mm rad, from my watercooling experience 240mm win by like 100% lol more surface to cool the water down
