Will he be using the i7 to it's potential? If not, it's a waste of money.
Just get Corsair Vengeance.
Get a Samsung 830, HyperX, or Intel 330/840 SSD. Cheaper + faster.
Corsair 600T, 500T, or Shinobi. HAF is just plain ugly tbh.
Get a cheaper PSU, such as this: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/part/corsair-power-supply-cmpsu750hx
Get a 7970, it's pretty much on par with the 680 as of now.

Emm well he will be rendering vids for youtube and stuff so I would say he will and it future proofs it. I had the same argument when getting my i7 2600k and tbh I haven't used to it's full a lot but it's a great processor and it will be for a long while yet. Thanks for the other suggestions all taken on board. On the HAF X looks are subjective and I have seen so many reviews saying it's great. It's pretty cheap on ebay too. Will look into the other ones you showed me though.

I would go with the Shinobi XL, it is a wonderful case. I would grab a 7950, since with the new driver update, I am pretty sure it is on par or better than a GTX 670. Swap out to a HX750, since it is mostly modular, except for the 24pin. You could even drop down to a 550W PSU and be fine, the 750W allows for a second card to be added.

I would also grab a H100i or H80i for a cooler for overclocking. thumb.gif

Also, try to stay away from Newegg for Canada, try to stick with NCIX and other Canadian retailers. they should pricematch Newegg.ca and you will get your items faster and pay less for shipping if you only have to deal with one retailer.

I know you think a i7 is necessary because it "future proofs" but I'd say a 3570k is more than adequate. Even for doing vids. And I think it will stay relevant for just as long as the i7. No part is every truly future proof; in the tech world, everything is obsolete within a year. I think a i5 3570k will serve him equally as well, and equally as long, as a i7. Both procs are "future proofed" to the same extent IMO. Put that $ towards other parts.

Just my 2 cents. Everything else looks copacetic to me.

Thank you for your input. Another reason for getting the i7 is it's only €20 so no harm. I will keep in mind what you said for again. Yes the H100 or H80 will be on the list as I have a H60 myself and it's awesome. Are you happy with the Motherboard or could I go for something better?

Your can't future proof your computer. Go with an air cooler, such as the Phanteks PH-PC14PE. As yes, the Extreme4 is a brilliant MoBo. What's his build atm?

Looks good I would put in a extra HDD as well, space can fill up very fast I've had my new build for a moth and I've used up over 200 GB. For the video card i don't think there will be to much performance difference but here's a link to the two you were looking at. It comes down to how much you want to spend on a GPU
