GTX 680 vs GTX 680

Thread Starter
Hello there,

will probably finally buy my GPU in a couple of days and finish my very first build. Wonder which GTX 680 I should go for. Intended to go for the Gainward GTX 680 Phantom at first but I have read the Phantom series has stepped down in terms of performance / cooling. Not sure about this and its reliablility, though. Took a look at the Asus GTX 680 DCII Top and read only good things about it.

Which would you recommend?

Lightning, my cousin has one.
Better cooling.
Better overclocker.
Runs cooler.
More quiet.
Looks nicer too...
Need anyone say more?

As others have said, the lighting is the best 600 series card, period. It is the only card that can overvolt (besides the Power Edition 670 and 660ti but meh). So it clocks much higher then other cards and is way faster.

MSI Lightning if at all possible. Gainward Phantom in second place. ASUS in last place because of horrid RMA support recently.

Non reference with an outstanding power delivery design and some of the highest overclocking cards around on average while retaining the 2 slot design but without much/any loss on cooling.

Also, one of the few non-reference cards that has blocks made for it if you ever wanted to go that route.

Comparisons are moot. All 680s have the same raw core, you're paying for the design of the card itself, higher quality parts (power delivery and such), overclock potential, and reputation

There. that should settle things
The Asus card also lacks ram and vrm cooling from what I gathered.
