Got my E6300 rig up!

Thread Starter
Ok guys i got all my parts, and started overclocking my E6300. As of now its at 2.8Ghz. Prime 95 ran all night with no errors, and my temps stayed at 50C. Do these temps seem normal with a Scythe ninja? or should i try reseating it?

What program are you using to determine your temps? I would use CoreTemp:

http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/

50C Load temp at 2.8Ghz is a bit high but this depends on the program you are using.

supposedly you are supposed to use Intel's TAT program, I don't know what that is, but I know I see people saying "USE TAT!!!" and "OMGHAXORBBQSAUCE TAT is the best!!" so yea, I would look into that lol.

Intel TAT is better used as a method to Increase the temperature of the CPU. It is even better than Orthos prime for that duty. I believe that CoreTemp is better at reading the digital cores though.

If you use TAT, you will see that this piece of software does not even recognize Core 2 and calls it Pentium "M".

See I learn something everyday, I thought TAT was for measuring temps.

Something to keep in mind with TAT is that it was developed specifically for Intel motherboards. Personally, I think you should use whatever thermal monitoring software was packaged with your mobo.

Normally I would agree with you. However, the new Core2 digital thermal readouts are not yet computed with the motherboards software. They are still using the older algorithms that measured the analogue sensors and thus are not very significant.

I would use CoreTemp for Core2 thermal readings and TAT to drive up the temperature and Orthos Stress Prime for determining system stability. The differential between TAT and Core Temp is not great though.

Dont mean to double post, but i got the temps down to around 45-46 by lowering my Vcore voltage to 1.2. Testing with orthos to see if its stable.
