Need help: Just swapped out GPU and now I'm getting stuck with A2 code during boot *FIXED* - Page 2

Okay, update.

I removed the new card and plugged my 560ti back into the 4th slot. It worked like a charm. So it has nothing to do with the HDD.

I unplugged the HD Audio that was in the way of the 670, removed the 560ti, and plugged the 670 into the 4th slot.

And I'm back to the old screen.
Marvell 88SE61xx Adapter
BIOS 1.1.0.L70D Version
Initializing...

I've narrowed things down. For some reason, the card is freezing my computer at that step in the boot process. Okay, I'd like to try turning off the Marvell Controller. Will that affect my rig's performance at all?

No, it's just a controller that provides eSATA functionality.  It doesn't do anything else.

It's a computer!

Yup you should be fine disabling it.

the fact that the exact same configuration with the 560 works is concerning to me....if the only thing you change is unplugging the 560 and then plugging the 670 into the same slot then I would start to suspect an issue with the hardware.

Do you have the ability to try the 670 in a different computer?

PROGRESS.

Okay, I put the 560ti back in, got into the BIOS and disabled Marvell Controller. I put the 670 back in and now the boot process is hanging on the P67 Logo. The error code is AE, or "Legacy Boot Event".

Thoughts?

Trulsrohk - I'm unable to try the card in the another computer. I'm also beginning to wonder about the 670.

UPDATE:

I've removed all variables. With the 560ti, everything boots just fine. With the 670 in the same slot, I get error code AE, or "Legacy Boot Event."

I have no idea why that might be the case.

Could you try different pcie slots?

I tried different slots and still no go. I've tried a few things and now there isn't anything on the screen when I boot and I get D6 (No Console Output Devices are found). The 560ti still works like a champ, however.

After several hours of tinkering, I think it's just bricked. It happens to all of us. The price to pay for being a part of the Master Race, am I right?

Thank you everyone for your help. I'm going to RMA the card back to Newegg. Overclock.net has always been a bounty of excellent advice, and you guys carried on the tradition.

yeah...I would want to try it in a different PC just to make sure, but i'm sure the board should handle that card. some older mobo's will have problems with one-off cards but yours shouldn't have that problem. Seems like the card is the most likely culprit
