My 165 @ 2.8ghz, 1.35v

Thread Starter
I got a screen of 3.5 hours, 1.328v according to CPU-Z. It was stable at 1.3v 2.7ghz. Ran 12hour Orthos and bumped it up to 2808 with 1.35v set in bios. Stable all day yesterday and I started running Orthos again this morning.

I will be away for tomorrow, I'll set it up tonight to try a 24 hour. It's at 4:11 right now, will be turning it off when its around 5 hours.

I can go to 3ghz for sure, but I'll need to do some lapping or IHS removal. Right now its in the mid 40's on load. The one core is a good 4c lower than the other on average though.

I have exact same stepping, and I have mine running at same speed. I think I'm running at 1.4V though, but myy load doesn't go above 40C.

I've tried 3.0GHz....I can boot into windows, but within the first 1-2 min, it locks up.

I found the Opty's really start to shine around 2.6 - 2.8GHz. I really wish I still had my setup...it was really sweet.

Anyway, good on the OC. You should be able to get close to 3GHz but you won't notice that much of a difference (only in benchmarks)

Nice overclock . Mine is at 2.925GHz @ 1.4V, so you have some headroom with your chip (as long as temps. are reasonable). I'm tring to push for the big 3.0 but temps. really start to climb when I go above 1.45V (my chip needs up to 1.55V for 3GHz). Maybe when I get my WC done (leak testing it as I type this).
Not much of a difference between 2.8 and 2.9 in terms or real performance, but once you hit 3GHz both 3D apps. and synthetic numbers increase.
