Yeah, they use a individual spreadsheet for each event, not like our Foldathons were we have one big slow spreadsheet. Although that will be changed to my stats site for 2013.

Not sure if that was directed at me or Sethy. I wasn't referring to this past BGB as it is obviously too early to tell.

I've always been a fan of previous BGB requirements for prizes, even if it's only participating in one prior event. Sure your first BGB might not net you a prize, at least one that everyone wants, but the subsequent ones will thumb.gif

The stupidest thing is, I've been gunning for an OCN lanyard since it was first offered as a prize. Wanted to replace the one I broke for work, and since I've been waiting so long now it's a matter of pride, I wont' buy one. One day I'll win it thumb.gif

Although I wouldn't have complained about those GPUs or Duckys wink.gif

there's a PM that goes out to all who have previously participated in BGB events, reminding them to sign up before the event starts. So even if they forget or didn't know at the time, there's still a reminder that gets sent out (I think, used to be anyway)

Ooooh... I see it now. Probably should have said "sign up now (even if you have signed up for previous BGB's)" or something to that effect. Probably would have caught my attention more.

We could motivate members and folders to recruit more Boincers. I would do this by having escalating prize brackets based on the number of Active Participants, not signups, per event.

So if 40 people are active during BGB then we distribute prizes up to tier 2... 60 people ---> tier3. etc. The problem with an incentivized system like this is that it must be worth the users time to promote, ie large prizes. Otherwise not enough people will care enough to go recruit. In this situation not having substantial admin backing will hinder our ability to consistently provide adequate rewards.

While a list at random is a good idea, there is also the high probability that people simply won't run said projects because it isn't in their interests and may not get the numbers needed throughout the month to make a difference?
While on the other hand voting by numbers is going to possibly produce the same result again and again (as it has done in the past).

Deegon, i'm not talking about getting people to run different projects for a whole month. My suggestion is to run a different CPU and GPU project every BGB, not as a BOINC Team as a whole. It makes a lot of sense to do so. People can go back to competing 24/7 365 on POEM and Moo the rest of the time, i just personally consider that a fruitless endeavour.
