To update your BIOS all you would need is the name of it (PTGD1-LA), I'm not sure what you mean by model number?

EDIT: I just searched Asus' site and didn't find any Bioses for PTGD1-LA...

EDIT:: Is your computer a prebuilt like an HP/Compaq? If so Asus apparently makes motherboards just for HP/Compaq but they are not supported at all through Asus, check your computer builder's site and see if they have a Bios update.

Okay, go to Compaq's site and find a link for downloading software and drivers, and then search the name of your Compaq, I'm not familiar with their naming schemes but it should be Compaq Presario something something right?

Here's what I found for my computer.

Thanks for the help! They have updated bios there. I wanna download the new bios because I'm having problems with my sound card. The sound crackles and is often distorted when playing racing simulation games.

Glad you found it, but did you try to update the drivers for the integrated sound first? Also, in the game maybe you should lower the sound quality settings, integrated sound may be fine but if you try and feed it too much it may crackle, for instance some games have options to control how many hardware voices can simultaneously play or allow you to change the sampling frequency of the game (44.1kHz, 48kHz etc.).

I've got an Audigy 4 now. I got it about a month ago, and forgot to update my profile.
