Man how you doing? I'm trying to convince him he doesn't need Xeons but it's like bashing my head against a brick wall. When he tells us what this "Home Server" is running I'll recommend something else. He certainly doesn't need 16 cores of Xeon, we use those at work, in quad mind you for SQL clusters..

The reason im doing it because this is ocn, isnt over the top part of what ocn is/everyone wants? yes it will cost me around $5k to build or so but its times we start making those stupid decisions that makes us feel happy inside, because we are doing something we like doing. Because it's something i like i will do it no one will talk me out of it.

That's not entirely true, I'm going to quote on of the greatest members we've ever had on this forum

"Overclocking isn't buying the fastest just to be fast, it is buying the cheapest and making it fast!"

Also you will be limited with overclocking those xeons, you'd still be better off iwth something like a 3930k if you really wanted 6 cores.

I'd go with a 3770k and a 680, you'll get more PPD from that than you would from the Xeons

I'm great!
Indeed, servers are a different story here.

That's fair enough, but servers are a tad different to desktops, in that requirements become before hardware. If you'd rather we didn't talk you out of it - no problem. You should be good with 450-550W of quality.
