I like the Xbox because:
1. it acts as a media extender (pulls media off of every computer in my house) and plays it through my main sound system. It does so wirelessly and with a great degree of reliability. It accomplishes this task for cheaper than I could've built an HTPC.

2. I have a real liking for Halo Wars and numerous other Xbox exclusive titles. It's nice to be able to crash on the couch with friends and play Halo or other games like that.

3. The built in applications' support is generally very good. Netflix runs like a dream on the Xbox.

I never got a PS3 because I was never impressed with its titles or extra features. The Xbox communicates with Windows PC's much more effectively and the PS3's games just didn't entice me.

Bah, mine just died last week. I have had it for 5 or 6 years now and got a RROD back in febuary that i was able to fix by replacing the xclamp with bolts and rubber washers and reapplying the thermal paste but now I am getting error e74 and not sure I can fix that. Real shame because I want to hold out to next gen but I wanted to pick up halo 4 for christmas:mad: My family also uses it a ton for streaming netflix.

I'd be one of them, God forbid I would want to spend 1% of my extra money on entertainment.
I picked up a 250GB Slim [$300] that came with Halo 4, Forza 4, Black Ops II, and Skyrim for $250.

I got it mostly to play with my friends, since only 1 of them plays PC. I have to admit I'm enjoying myself more on Xbox than I have on PC in a good 6 or 7 years.
I also have a Xim Edge [M+KB emulator], so destroying an entire team is an easy feat.

Right. Because everyone who wants to play Halo or Forza or CoD or whatever should totally wait at least another year before playing them. I can't understand why people are continually arguing/complaining about people buying consoles. Not everyone wants a PC. Not everyone knows or wants to know how to build one. And again, the new consoles are still at minimum one year away. Why should someone wait if they want to play Halo now? No use waiting until the next generation (yes generation, because we're still using the same generation right now).

Bear in mind, I understand everyone has their preferences about this and that. I just think we could find better things to complain and argue about.

I sold my XBOX 360 and Wii a few months ago but now is one of the best times to buy a console. The library for XBOX 360 is HUGE and many of the initial exclusives are really cheap.

I find it funny all the OCN console haters that call PC gaming superior in every way go on to say how they get nothing but busted crappy ports of console games or no games at all. Kinda invalidates the argument? rolleyes.gif

Anyone here who enjoys gaming should bury that Elitist Master race mentality and just play where the games are. You are only cheating yourselves.

That's a very impressive number for an outdated, end-of-life in-sight console. With those kind of sales, I wonder how well the next xbox will take over.

Perhaps for a good chunk this is their 2nd or 3rd and they only decided to buy it because they still have games, it's cheap, or new releases (halo 4, cod17). No, they don't sell the old crap models - but you can get them used still and some have survived somehow.
Keeping with the hate, I wonder how their market share looks minus the failed consoles. I honestly only know 1 person who is still on their orig console.. everyone else has had at least 2, the worst being 5. So, it is a valid point that some of these sales are just replacements - when else would you buy a replacement? When it and it's games/accessories are regular priced?

I really don't see the launch of a new Xbox as a end to the 360 life cycle. It does way too many different things adequately to convince everyone that they need to upgrade. Netflix / movies / media player etc. I mean, you look at the price of something like a Roku and you aren't paying too much more for an 360.

I would have a hard time believing that any next gen xbox games in the year or two after its launch wouldn't be watered down and thrown at the 360 as well.

Good point the 720 games will probably be on 360 for a year or two anyway. And the 720 probably isn't gonna be here till late 2013 or some time in 2014. I like my xbox but I sure won't be getting a 720 now that I have a gaming computer. Having to deal with replacement parts for my 360 that require me to make home made probes to extract the 'key' from hardware I own just to not have to pay MS $100 to fix it when its a 20 dollar part has ended my console life span but until then i'll enjoy my 360.

Looking forward to gta 5 !
