You have a Sabertooth, right? Use one of the earlier BIOSes.

Got a Thuban on the latest sabertooth bios. 1055T @ 4.2ghz and CPUNB@ 3ghz. Why should i downgrade bios?

Comparing Hz for Hz here.

yes, an 81XX at 4.5 or a 83XX at 4.4. i based this from reading threads in amd forums and my experience with my thuban.

Basically if you're not CPU limited you should be able to push both GPU's at 99%
My 5850 Crossfire is a lot slower then your 580's so it will be interesting to see how your CPU fairs...
My 5850's with a mild OC get 48fps minimum and 60fps average...

Ok, thanks. I'll try it out this weekend and post results in a new thread.

I dont have a high end CPU or GPU but just to show AMD is not as horrible as some say, I have plans with another 660ti owner to compare gaming benchmarks on it with his 3570K and my 6300, as well.

OP if your serious about increasing gaming performance, really look into upgrading that GPU it will give you the best performance increase.

And +rep to the Intel owners who post helpful info and remain objective. OCN needs more objective people, that make recommendations based on a persons needs instead of what they themselves bought.

Look forward to that thread but please don't just use Battle filed 3 and Crysis 2, we all know that AMD can hang with Intel in those games...

Try Crysis 1, GTA4 and a good variety of games smile.gif

Some people also have money to piss away on overkill systems for gaming, and think the rest of us do as well.
The plain and simple fact is AMD is perfectly fine for gaming, gaming mostly relies on your GPU, so if your not being bottle necked your fine. Fanboys claim or act like if you get AMD you will have massive lag in games. That is just ignorant. I have owned the best of both brands and When I am in a FPS I never noticed a difference. Thuban, Vishera, Ivy, Sandy are all great chips and are fine for gaming.
Only if your doing more than just gaming should you look at all those synthetic benchmarks.Ans when you do Its funny how alot of Intel fanboy's will ignore the benchmarks where Vishera will do better than 3570K and even sometimes outperform a 3770K, I think thats a great accomplishment, but Intel guys will still act like the processor is trash, why?

Why would we ever need to make ourselves feel better about having the best gaming CPU's available?

If anyone would need to curb their buyers remorse it would be the red team bro.

EDIT: looks like i arrived too late for the flame wars.... sigh... everyone is all calm and rational now frown.gif

enjoy your purchase OP what ever it is.

Ofcourse, Unlike what some believe I prefer Intel myself. Just killed my Ivy so Im sticking with AMD until haswell since I had most of the parts. Once I gave it a try I actually was impressed with AMD, it hangs in games just fine for me. That's my whole point, AMD is not terrible at all. I just hate when people act like it is.

I've said countless times that on most of games there's no real difference between my old Phenom 2 x6 and Ivy CPU

But in some games that I play quite a lot the difference is a lot more apparent.

I stuck with AMD for 2 years and hoped they would sort themselves out but I got sick o waiting and moved to Intel.

It's just nice being able to turn v-sync on and have 60fps locked in pretty much every game that I own, a feat that no matter how much I overclocked or tweaked my Phenom 2 x6 just could not do.

Even at this overclock my Phenom 2 x6 was still slower in CPU heavy games then a stock clocked Ivy!

Some people only play a handful of games but I play quite a wide variety and it's nice knowing that If I do need the CPU power, that power is there.
