Any idea what causes "Battlefield 3 has stopped working"?

Like I'll log in to a server, have a good time for about 10 minutes, and then suddenly BF3 freezes and the fans in my case go back to idle mode.

I'm running i7 3770k 4.8ghz, 16gb ram, and a gtx 670 @ 1242/7100. The game runs great but then 10 min later this happens...

The problem went away when I updated to 310.54 drivers from the WHQL ones, and I'm in the process of updating drivers again.

Is it caused by drivers? I'm just worried it might happen again...

Could very well be the reason. I would uninstall the GPU from device manager, re-start and then install the drivers. Not sure if there is way to validate game files in origin, (might as well right click on BF3 in origin, and make sure there is none)

Have you installed any mods?

Yes, these are caused by the recent R310 driver branch builds,

NVIDIA is aware of it and they should have it fixed by the next WHQL (said by an NVIDIA rep).

In the mean time, you could try this:

- Open CMD as an admin.
- Type: bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072.

Can you please explain what that does?

I am not using any mods. I used to use FXAA injector but I stopped using it because it made CQ maps like Scrapmetal too dark I actually had to use a tactical light to see rofl.
