I dont think he'll need to lap it, that seems overkill for someone who is getting 40c BIOS. I think a cleaning will do him fine

I totally agree. Thosee temps aren't to argue with, but if you clean the HS i'm sure you'll drop 3, 4 degrees

I get 32-35C in a 30C room in BIOS on my sig rig. (it caries depending on when I last turned on the PC)

EDIT: I recommend lapping at least the HS (since you USUALLY dont RMA those, and dont need the warranty) since its easy and will drop your temps, Im even going so far as to lap my stock HS on my sig rig once I figure out how to get the epoxy off
