Motherboard and RAM compatibility

Thread Starter
Hi, my friend has recently purchased this Mobo and this RAM, as said on the description, the RAM is DDR3 1866 and the mobo DDR3 2400(OC)/1600/1333/1066, does this mean that RAM wont work on this mobo? or does it mean that it will work like how GPU work with mobo even tho it is PCIe2 and PCIe3.

The links don't work (you can see why), but I think I can still provide the general answer.  The "2400(OC)" means that it will support up to DDR3 2400 MHz, but you have to manually set it to 2400 MHz.  The rest of it that says "1600/1333/1066" means it will natively support these without having to manually set the memory as you would for anything above 1600 MHz.  So anything you install that's above DDR3 1600 will default to either DDR3 1066, 1333, or 1600.  Regardless of what it defaults to, you'll have to manually set it to whatever it is - in this case, DDR3 1866.
