Help with cm spawn settings...

I'm new to these forums guys...and I hope I made this in the right section and didn't make anyone angry redface.gif

So today I received my new cm storm spawn along with my new mouse pad qck+

I've been having problems finding a right setting on this mouse and it's starting to irritate me mad.gif

I've tried dpi: 800, polling rate:125 hz and 1000hz with windows sensitivity on 6 . Those setting felt ok but when I play some games like osu( don't know if anyone knows this redface.gif) and cs 1.6 and try to make a quick turn or a 360 turn the mouse sometimes doesn't want to?....

Sorry I'm horrible at explaining these type of stuff :\

I've also tried dpi: 1800, polling rate 125hz and same windows 6 sensitivity , the mouse is then too fast frown.gif and turning and aiming feels really off. I either end up aiming to far to the right or left in cs and in osu I just can't land on the notes cuz it over shoots the cricles frown.gif

I have no clue what it is that I'm setting up wrong...I really like this mouse coming from a Deathadder black edition, this mouse feels so much more comfortable. I just can't seem to find any good settings for it though...

I'm using firmware 30a and have accel and angle snap off if it helps..

Also I've noticed on the bottom of the mouse where it should say "3500dpi storm tactical sensor" , mine just says "Optical high performance sensor.."

Is that normal? I ordered this mouse from Amazon since newegg was sold out :\

sorry guys if what I wrote doesn't make much sense.

I guess... try FW31 or 61 as they are the better firmwares for Spawn, or so I heard. Also try 500/1000 Hz as polling rate might affect the tracking speed in some mice.

Where can I find fw 61? and how do I go about updating it?

Do I just install it or restart my comp and then install it?

Also how do I check which fw I'm using?

http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/download.php?action=ViewDownload&id=328

Extract the files then run the .exe - easy.

Not too sure how you find out what version your mouse is running but after you flash it to v61 you will know you are now running v61 biggrin.gif

The LOD(Lift Off Distance) will be quite high after flashing to v61 so you will be better off using a simple tape fix using electrical tape (does not matter what colour)

Also the DPI settings will change to 800/1600/4000 but the driver software will still report 800/1800/3200

800 will be the new native DPI.

Should I be worried about the bottom of my mouse not saying "3500dpi storm tactical sensor"

no,
afaik cmcarter said, that there were some wrong stickers delivered to the factory. But nothing changed regarding the hardware

Like others I suggest firmware 61, it's the best performing and it has 800 DPI step properly made unlike earlier fw versions.

When playing CS 1.6 it's important to know that high DPI and low sensitivity is limiting maximum turning speed in this game. It's better to set lower DPI and higher sensitivity, for example:
1) 800x600, 100 fps, 800 DPI, sensitivity 1.5 => 1.27 m/s (max turning speed mouse movement in meters per second)
2) 800x600, 100 fps, 400 DPI, sensitivity 3.0 => 2.54 m/s
Both settings should be the same distance to 360 turn but the second one gives you double max speed. This is quite large difference, since Spawn doesn't have 400 DPI setting you'll have to halve 800 DPI using 4/11 Windows speed.

Be careful when using Spawn software for setting different pointer speed.

The thing is: Spawn Software has 20 speed steps like Windows registry but scale is for 11 steps like Control Panel slider. In result some settings don't correspond with the scale. In case of 6/11 (center, default setting) there's no problem, but for example setting 4/11 will result with different speed than 4/11 in Control Panel because the scale is a bit off.

This is Control Panel 3/11 in Spawn Software:

This is not Control Panel 3/11 but it appears to be it:

This is Control Panel 4/11 in Spawn Software:
