Games you feel you got your money's worth VS games you feel were a waste of money

Got my $$$ worth:
Dota 2 (even if it cost $100 this would hold true)
warcraft 3 (easily logged most hours on this out of any game, ever. bought on 1st day of release and played until the day sc2 was released. sold and rebought the game 2 different times, and un- and re-installed the game so many times i memorized both of the cd keys ROFL)
planetside 2 (obviously)
team fortress 2 (obviously)
portal (obviously)
cs: source
half-life 2
sc brood war
starcraft 2 (not sure this will be true once i've spent $140 on all 3 games #blizzardgolddiggers)
audiosurf (was $2.50 lol)

in between:
Sins: Rebellion (don't get me wrong; amazing gameplay/mechanic/graphics, but matches are waaaay too long to hold my interest)

Wasted:
DoW 2 Retribution (gameplay way too slow, miss base building too much)
Civ IV (another excellent title i had to buy to realize turn based strat games were not for me)
Torchlight 2 (way too easy, just click like hell)
diablo 3 (luckily i got a refund)
Company of Heroes (was 100% addicted to wc3 when i bought this so i didn't give it a fair chance i guess. awesome game once again but going from 4 races of fantasy and magic to 2 realistic factions was not for me)
Heroes of might n magic VI (a TRUE waste. got it a couple days ago and is buggy as hell over a year after release. contacted Ubisoft to no avail, so i'll be avidly boycotting Far Cry 3 and any of their future releases)

as a totally random afterthought i wish Valve would make an RTS game :/

Best:

Morrowind - Over 200 hours
Forza 2 - Over 100 hours
Gran Turismo 4 - Over 100 hours
Oblivion - Over 100 hours
Mass Effect Series - Good story that kept me wanting to play to the end
Half Life 1, 2 and Episodes - Despite the physics puzzles I could not wait to see what happened next
Deus Ex HR & Missing Link - BEST GAME IN AT LEAST 5 YEARS
Dirt 3 - Over 40 hours
Witcher 2 - Over 30 hours
NBA 2k11 - Used to play the annual releases back in college all the time but recently enjoyed 2k11 and the My Player mode
KOTOR - So much better than I was expecting as I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan. Played it all the way through twice.
Tomb Raider Anniversary - Beaten twice and loved the exploration and puzzle solving
Halo 1-3 - Enjoyed playing several hours of co-op and multiplayer with friends in college. Don't think it would have been worth it without friends though
Metal Gear Solid 1-3 - Thoroughly enjoyed each game despite the lengthy cutscenes
Tony Hakw's Pro Skater - Loved this game at the time since I was into skateboarding
Prince of Persia Sands of TIme - Really enjoyed the platforming
Conker's Bad Fur Day - Played it and couldn't stop laughing so I had to finish it
Parasite Eve 1 & 2 - Could not wait to see what happened next despite the quirky combat controls
Roller Coaster Tycoon 1-3 - Heroine addiction that couldn't be satisfied
Diablo I - Over 50 hours
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo - Crack cocaine as a child and only kid with an SNES on the block
Super Mario World - Single player crack cocaine as a child
Donkey Kong 1 & 3 - Almost as addictive as Super Mario
Chrono Trigger - Love at first sight

Worst

Starcraft 2 - Played about 1-2 hours and shelved it. Preferred Dawn of War series to this one. Glad I was gifted it
World of Warcraft - Would rather be shot in the leg and watch it bleed. Friends signed me up for a 14 day trial and tried leveling me up quickly but it was just too tedious. Why would I want to stand in the back while they defeat a boss just so I can get XP? Additionally the combat was just too slow and boring
Diablo III - Played about 4 hours with my roommate and said screw this it's boring. Wish I didn't spend £30 on it
Saint's Row 2 - Enjoyed Saint's Row 1 but for some reason this one didn't click for me
NBA Live Series - Compared to NBA 2k it sucks. Hated that I spent full price on NBA Live 2004 or 2005 back in the day
League of Legends - Thankfully it is free but I only played it with an old friends who was 8,000 miles away so that we could stay in touch. Otherwise I hated this game. It's so damn boring and it feels like you play on the same map all the time.
Batman Arkham City - I swear I will play this one day but I just can't seem to get into it when I have so many other interesting games to play through

There are several other good and bad games that I have owned but these are the first ones to cross my mind when making a list.

This is kind of a list of games that I bought and played for a while vs a game i bought and didnt play much.

Best:
Dota 2 - although it probably did cost me $100 to play. Damn limited edition chests. I have 1000 games played so far.
WC3 - Countless hours, custom and regular games
Starcraft 1 / Broodwar - Custom games, had me designing maps, one of my first MP online games, a lot of fun
Runescape - at $5 a month it was a great time killer as a kid, introduced me to mmorpgs at a good price, had a lot of fun back in the day
WoW - really damn addicting, but have lots of great memories, i miss the feeling of vanilla wow, re-tried it during cata, was fun, but really easy, cleared the raids and a couple of heroic raid bosses, then quit
CoD MW2 - Great FPS, spent a lot of time and killed lots of ppl, it was fun
BF3 - Awesome modern FPS, really should spend some more time with it
Darksiders - A bit grindy, but a really fun DMC style game
Dark souls - Fun and rageworthy. I gotta get past the butterfly still
Skyrim - Everything a fantasy world RPG should be
CSS / CZ / 1.6 - Pinnacle of aim and reaction time and map knowledge. Lead the way for me doing good in future FPS'

Worst:
SC2 - couldnt get back into the game, gets me really stressed out when playing ladder matches, and custom games just dont feel the same
GTA - cant play these games for a long while, i just get distracted and idk, just not the game for me
Cataclysm - hoping to bring me back to glory days of wow, but just didnt, still was fun, but not worth it
Arma - Sounds good, but could not get into it, got bored during tutorial and never went back : x
Recent quake games - Doesnt compare to the old games, waste of time and money
Orcs must die - Fun at first, the it just get stressful

Time to get back to work

Games worth it

Starcraft and broodward : This was big when i was in high school, we had every computer in the lab hooked up with it. so much fun.

Granturismo A spec and 5 : I love cars, and i love driving. I even like the endurance races.

Skyrim : Good story and very fun side quests and such. Also "im a cat, no, im a dog, wait no, im a cat!"

Starcraft 2 : i payed 20 bucks for it and its really really addicting.

Mass effect series : Awesome story kept me wanting to play. Excellent gameplay.

All of the Final Fantasy series minus 11 and 12 : I love RPGs

Portal : Made me laugh alot.

Deadspace : made me jump more than ants in the pants.

Halo 1 - 3 : Loved the story and raped in Multiplayer

God of war series : great game play with good story.

Games not worth my munnys

Diablo 3 : repetitive and boring.

final fantasy 12 : linear in an rpg?!

World of warcraft cataclysm : they dumbed it down so much it wasnt even remotely challenging anymore.

Homefront : Epic story and good graphics just way too short for what i paid for it.

Starwars Empire at war: not much strategy needed.

These are all based on when I purchased them and at what price. I understand everyone's opinion, and while I don't miss playing Black Ops or MW2 at all, and I paid $45 for them near launch, I played at least 100+ hours on both (200+ for Black Ops), so it's impossible to say it wasn't worth the money just because the game itself is a re-hash. Some of the games I have down there as Not quite worth it, or a straight-up waste, are because of game-types I enjoy, like 'The Witcher' and 'SW: KOTOR', which are both regarded as great games by many here, I didn't enjoy the gameplay type I encountered early on in those games and as such I haven't played them for more than once or twice. Many of the games in my middle category are there because I paid full price and I do not feel they were worth the $50-$60 price-tag that I purchased them at.

WORTH THE MONEY:
  • Company of Heroes
  • Left 4 Dead
  • Call of Duty 4, Black Ops, and MW2
  • Assassin's Creed Series
  • Hitman: Absolution
  • F.E.A.R.
  • GTA IV
  • Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.
  • Half-Life Series
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Mass Effect Series
  • Borderlands 2
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Batman: Arkham Series
  • Darksiders Series
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Portal Series
  • Walking Dead Game
  • Battlefield 3, and BC2
  • Starcraft 2

NOT QUITE WORTH THE MONEY:
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Red Orchestra 2
  • The Witcher
  • Saints Row: The Third
  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  • Borderlands
  • Dishonored
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • Sniper Elite V2
  • Diablo 3

WASTE OF MONEY:
  • Call of Duty World at War, Modern Warfare 3
  • F.E.A.R. 2, 3
  • Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2
  • FUEL
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Tropico 4

Best game I ever bought is also one of the worst..
I bought Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead in a pack deal thingy on Steam for $25 simply to play Day Z, played it for hours on end everyday..
Unfortunately during the my last game playing it, I got killed by hackers and then got globally banned and my CD keys stolen for both games. mad.gif
It was one of my best purchases before it was ruined frown.gif

The worst is Battlefield 3, which I bought off a mate for $20
It was fine, untill Pnkbuster was playing up and I got kicked 10 minutes into everygame :/
I fixed it for a little bit but a new update/patch made it go retarded again.
All in all I've never gotten my money's worth for any games I've bought :/
