[G3D] Sapphire launches Vapor-X CPU Cooler - Page 3

Hm curious. I wonder why Sapphire of all markets choose to get into one that's already crammed full with strong competition. But yeah, always happy to see another new air cooler of course, lets hope it will deliver something new else I can't see much profit in this.

It looks exactly like their version of the Cooler Master V6GT one can pick up for $49.99. Sapphire will need to come up with a better pricing.

I have this type of CPU cooler in my Yin Yang. It's a very good cooler for air coolers. Allowed me to OC my i7 950 to 4.0 with very good temps. Very space consuming however in tower. Those specs will put that cooler right up against your side tower panel.

More expensive and didn't even throw in a LED light. Meh.

They do look exceptionally similar, still. I've been looking for an aftermarket cooler for my GF's i7 950 to get it to 4 GHZ, Now the only thing is to see if it'll fit in a NZXT Phantom!

Thanks for the Info Arizonian. thumb.gif

They may look similar but remember that, as the name implies, the Vapor-X has a vapor chamber.

Other companies like EVGA have been using vapor chamber cooling in some of their graphics cards but don't charge more for it. If the CM V6GT can get the same CPU OC results for a little less then Sapphire will need to compete with price.

In all reality though if I was building a Sapphire board with an AMD processor I would spend the extra $20 and marry it with the Sapphire VaporX CPU cooler and a VaporX card anyway for a complete Sapphire build.

However if I was building a budget build, then you just shaved $20 where price / performance matters most.

A bit too much plastic. I like the fans, apart from that it's a standard (noisy) cooler.

They might need to retest ,their unit was a salesman unit.base not fully flat is a nono.if sapphire fixed the flatness issue, expect better result temperature wise!
Does anyone know what the baseplate is made of? I'm seeing aluminium that the pipes are attached to but nothing on the base-plate.

Just that I want to use Liquid-Metal on the CPU as it's far better than any others e.g Arctic MX-4, but the liquid metal has an issue with aluminium which wouldn't do the plate much good.
